Its Back

Postby Nichoebe » Sat Dec 19, 2015 10:34 am

I was diagnosed in September 2013 and my signature tells the tale. I was on this site as BigMike and enjoyed the people and commeraderie that I found hear. I was suddenly unable to submit anything and tried rejoining so many times but was unable even under different email addresses. I got another email account and this time I was able to join.
Reguardless I thought I was cured everything pointed towards it. I've had issues with bowel movements either too too many or none at all.i just never ever thought it would be cancer. Both my oncologist and surgeon as well as my GI Dr were all shocked and upset. My hope is its only at resection and while I'll have to wear a colostomy I'll still be alive. I've seen too many people on this site over the almost three years I've been on it suddenly lose their Fight against this beast. I'm ready to Fight The Fight again but am devastated to numbness and isolation. I can't get out of this funk, I found out this past Monday and hope to come out of my wall I've created I need the Petscan ASAP so I no what I'm up against.
Thanks for listening
Mike

Hugs! I know how world changing recurrence is. It was worse than the initial diagnosis for me. I really needed sleep and stress relief when I found out, so I asked my GP for some anxiety meds that really have helped when I get in a funk. We need to keep our wits to fight this monster. I suggest doing something nice for yourself this weekend while you wait on that PET. You can do this!

I remember you BigMike. That's quite a punch to the gut you just rec'd...enough to knock anybody for a loop. Sounds like you're positioned to get your game hat on. Stewing in your own juices for awhile may be what it takes to do just that.
Maybe CRguy could hook you back up w/your old moniker if interested.

Hello and thanks for the responses that's what I love about this place, great support system. As far as going back to BigMike I'll let that sleeping dog lie. My new handle is a cross between my two kids Nicholas 24 and Phoebe 19 hence Nichoebe. Being superstitious I have to change things up,I never left site always checked daily but couldn't get back on to post no matter what I did. It used to be an issue stage 3 a people would just check out, I stayed on as I liked it here and I'm glad to be back although not under these shitty circumstances. But I'm back and will be posting and just praying for a scan that allows chemo surgery so I can have a shot.
I used to always close with a few different quotes I gotta change that up to but be sure I'll stay the course and fight the fight.
Thanks
Mike

I am sorry to hear this. As somebody who has dealt with a recurrence recently as well I know it can be jarring. No other way than to soldier on and try to beat that motherfucker another round. Good luck!

Hi Mike,
I also had a recurrence (it was to my liver 14 months after my LAR) and I know what a total shock that is. Like a really sickening dream-- felt blindsided. But here I am, two-and-a-half years from the liver surgery and four years from original rectal cancer diagnosis and life is good. The fog will clear once you have a plan. Sending you good vibes for your PET scan.
