O/T furbabies

Postby ripley86 » Wed Dec 09, 2015 9:58 pm

How many of us have our furbabies to give us love and attention when we are not feeling well. We have a 17 y/o husky/shepard mix male. A 4y/o German Shepard female. A 9 month old tuxedo girl kitty and a 7 month old "runt" little black girl kitty (she has a white triangle on her tummy) The "runt" girl is about half the size of a "normal" cat. The girls all lay on the bed with me when I am not feeling well and I think the little black girl clowns around just to make me laugh. So cute!!
They all mean a lot to us and, from reading posts here, I know some of you have furbabies who you love lots.

Yes. For sure! Mine is a pug- pomeranian mix with a nasty underbite, who loves everyone who enters the house welcomed. He stinks and needs constant attention, but he is fiercely loyal and pretty darn smart. The little stinker won't leave my side when I'm on the pump. He even waits by the bathroom door when I'm sick.

We have a short-furred medium sized dog. He came to us by way of our daughter's ex-boyfriend, who had a friend that acquired a foreclosed house. The friend of the ex-boyfriend was very surprised to find an abandoned dog in the backyard. He was dehydrated and malnourished and very untrusting at first. He has things much better now, and is currently wearing his new Christmas sweater. Tomorrow we might make peanut butter dog treats. And then some Christmas cookies for the rest of us.

Best Wishes, peanut

After my husband passed out in the shower from dehydration & freaked everyone out, our youngest boxer, the kind of crazy one no one expected to be very good, followed him to the restroom every night. Like 5 times a night. Slept on the floor under him.
He has relaxed a little now, but when hubby's having a bad day he will still follow him. He can tell when we get upset too. I hate that we have to leave him by his self now but I don't think we need a puppy right now. He has never been alone. Maybe we need a puppy :D A mastiff would be good. Or maybe a kitty?
Maybe we can just take him with us now that its cooler weather :D

THIS is my serious reply :
make sure ALL the ingredients ...esp peanut butter does NOT have any sugar alcohols in it !
Bottom Line: Many different sugar alcohols are common in the modern diet.
This includes xylitol, erythritol, sorbitol, maltitol and numerous others.

They are toxic for pets and will be found in MANY foods / products .... real the labels carefully !!

The difference between friends and pets is that
friends we allow into our company, pets we
allow into our solitude. ~ Robert Brault

Two books I have read lately:

I just heard about peanut butter a month ago. Didn't know what the deal was with it though. Now I can't tell hubby. Thanks. :)

My husband and I have been dogs rescuers for years. I think over the last 40 years we've had close to 20 dogs. Right now we are down to 6, there's Nesse, short for Tennessee, which is where we found her. She's a Puggle , pug and beagle mix and is hell on wheels. We found her deep in the back woods while my friend and I were taking a shortcut. She came out of nowhere skinny, loaded with fleas and ticks, looked like she had a litter of puppies. We stopped and give her some water and food then continued down the road where we noticed her chasing us. Both of us had dogs and knew our husbands would kill us if we brought another one home BUTT we did. My friend decided to keep her BUTT her husband wasn't happy about it and I guess Nessee knew this because she would pee and poop on his pillow daily. We received a phone call from him saying we want her because she's going to the pound. That was 4 years ago, and she has yet pee'd and pooped on our pillows.

Then we have D-O-G, he's a pit-Lab mix again from our friends in Tennessee. Their neighbors pitbull hitched up with another neighbors Lab. The litter would hang at my friends house but the Pit owner was tired of all these puppies and took them to the pound. D-O-G managed to escape but was discovered later where the neighbor was going to take the puppy into the woods and put a bullet in his head. I knew they would do it because they put down their Pit when he got sick this way. So D-O-G came home with us, he's a very quiet and loving dog BUTT we've had many fights between our other male dogs with him. Which he never started he just didn't take crap from others.

Now there's Abby, she's our howling coon dog. One evening my husband was riding his ATV and noticed this small dark thing in the middle of the road. Here was this cute black puppy just sitting there, we have no ideal how she got on our mountain as we live a distant from other neighbors. We keep our dogs fenced in at all times..BUTT with Abby we have to be on alert when we open any door or gate because she is out running in a flash. We've had her disappear for hours and sometimes days, hearing her barking in the distant BUTT she always comes home. She's my husband's shadow and is by his side when he's working outside. You see, she's a light chaser any light reflection sets her off howling so she's always staring at the ground. She's our dog with an attitude.

Last but not least, we have Brutus, Murphy and Shy. They are our senior dogs, last from a litter of 5 which was dumped at our cabin 15 years ago. We were having our retirement cabin built in N.C.and someone dumped 5 puppies. We took all 5 back home to Florida for the next 5 years before we permanently moved to the mountains.

They are all great and loving dogs who follow me around. At night they don't go to bed until I do, when they all take their positions on the floor around the bed. My husband can get up before me BUTT they stay until I get up.

They will be our last, we are getting old also and it wouldn't be fair to bring another dog into our home

Thx everyone for sharing. I think we all need positive stories here and, to me, nothing is more positive than sharing stories of our furry friends.

I read that back in 2009.
Made me wonder if "Garth Stein" is the nom de plume under which Eckhart Tolle's dog scribes.
