To explain here's some background :
I suffered a TIA during my first treatment of Folfuri, and since, my doctors have been looking to find out why a normal healthy thirty- something would suffer a precursor to a stroke while just sitting around on the 5Fu pump. I was ready to blame the chemo, or blame the cancer and move on, but the doctor kept pressing.
Now after many tests, we have discovered that I have a genetic mutation that increases clotting and triples my chances for venous thrombosis and I am ine of the 25% of the population to have a congenital shunt in my heart that could allow a clot to go to my brain. That paired with the increased clotting caused by just having cancer is enough to warrant blood thinners, but I'm on Avastin, and already bleeding from the nose and gums daily.
Does anyone do both? My doctor said blood thinners and avastin were not necessarily contraindicated. ...
Why does this worry me more than a stroke?
