How Much Do Feelings Weigh?
A noted speaker walked around a room while teaching stress management to an audience. As she raised a glass of water, everyone expected they'd be asked the "half empty or half full" question. Instead, with a smile on her face, she inquired: "How heavy is this glass of water?"
Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz.
She replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it's not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my arm. If I hold it for a day, my arm will feel numb and paralyzed. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn't change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes."
She continued, "The stresses and worries in life are like that glass of water. Think about them for a while and nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and they begin to hurt. And if you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed – incapable of doing anything."
Remember to put the glass down. Thanksgiving is a time of both letting go and picking up. Each year we have the opportunity to let go of a misunderstanding, misconception or mistake. We also can pick up more understanding, develop more clarity and experience more gratefulness. The longer we focus on what is truly important the more we feel relief, gratefulness and joy today.
We can only do what we can do, but Best Wishes to ALL who celebrate in Thanks...for a Happy Thanksgiving.

Kind words, peanut...glad you guys appreciated the message, as did I.
I'm grateful for this forum, thankful for my special friends here. You are a choice!
Our Thanksgiving w/b different this year. Today my son & I will be joining my BFF in the whole wide world & her DH + her sis (riddled w/breast cancer) & her sis' daughter @ the local church cafeteria for Thanksgiving dinner. We go back to junior high. Obviously it's not about the food. I am looking forward to seeing her sis, give her hugs. I've read so much on here on what NOT to say...there are no words. However I can offer my support, rides to appts if/when needed directly to her sis.
Afterwards, my son & I plan to go see a comedy @ the movie theatre.
Other than 27 degrees & a warm bed = oh yeah, I'm thankful!
Happy Thanksgiving

YEP, I'm on it. I've already been advised she could have another break through hernia down the road. She had a crimped colon that needed a hunk removed/ reattached, so the typical mesh could not be used and she had to be stitched instead. I am finding my mission in life is to be the advocate for anyone in my family in the bed of an ER, or Hospital/ Dr's office. I KNOW that YOU know that role all too well TOO. I find myself sitting beside yet another loved one who does not do "sick", having had zero illnesses in 80 years, period. We are planning on requesting a release tomorrow, with or without the "usual timeline of typical patients".
OH JOY, another head on fight with the White Coats
Picture me in my knights armor, sword in hand in the morning. That should make a few of you grin
You can place your bets now, but I am a sure thing, LOL
Been there/ done that
HUGS,
Sista Vicki
