New standard for cancer survivor quality of life programs

For those who are survivors, there is a new standard requiring accredited cancer centers to provide a quality-of-life improvement program. From the document "Guide for Delivering Quality Survivorship Care" from the National Cancer Survivorship Resource Center:

"A major facilitator in increasing the number of survivorship programs, the Commission on Cancer (CoC) announced a new patient-centered Survivorship Care Planning standard that must be phased in by 2015. Because CoC-accredited institutions care for the majority of cancer patients in the United States, this standard has the potential to significantly impact survivorship care." This gives us an opportunity to ask our doctors what's being done to meet this standard and to get into a program to address quality-of-life issues we're having. It's an encouraging development, and I'm bringing it up next month when I see my oncologist.
