Almost 5 years Later

Postby brooks0729 » Wed Oct 21, 2015 10:13 am

Long time lurker here. I've posted a few times over the years. But i'm almost to my 5 year mark. Man it's been a long ride to get here but i've made it. I have my 5 year PET scan coming up on Nov. 9th. I was DX at age 29 with Stage 3C. I had 2 tumors, one was the size of a grapefruit and the other right behind it the size of a golf ball. 6 months of chemo. Ups and downs along the way. But i credit my wife, kids and whole family for helping me get here. I also thank you guys on here for giving me hope! So whatever comes of the PET scan i know i can beat it! Lastly i just wanted to tell the new people here that NEVER NEVER give up hope. There are a lot of dark times we endure, a lot times where i felt like giving up. But you have to keep going! I love each and everyone of you guys. Thanks.

That's great news! 5 years. I wish you only the best on your upcoming scan.

Also thank you for stopping to post positive encouragement.

Fighting this damn disease day to day is emotionally exhausting. We all share the same frustrations, fear, pain, and worry. When you get good news from someone who is NED it is so encouraging!

So glad for you and your family the wait is almost over and the chance of getting cancer is as small as the rest of the population again..
Enjoy living and life untill you are very old and wrinkly

Congrats. 5 years is a huge milestone.
I'm just a dude who still can't believe he had a resection and went through chemo (currently 13 years NED). Is this real life?

I avoided them here but I stumbled across them in a Time magazine article. Came close to throwing up when I did.

First I cried my eyes out and then I searched until I found more positive numbers.. And then decided it's coinflipping anyway and turned to focus on other stuff. Still creeps up on me when I lay awake at night.

Hi Congratulations and prayers for your final Pet. I had my final lung X-ray and ct scan this past month. I was told I was in the group most likely to recur with a tumor in my appendix and also in my right colon. BUT decided to prepare for the worst but hope for the best. Also my sister who is a doctor told me there is a percentage who survive and it could be me. Feeling very lucky and blessed to be here. Sending you the best.
