Just my experience, but the reversal surgery was much easier than the resection. As usual, hospital length of stay will depend on how quickly your bowels get moving. I had my reversal surgery on a Saturday and was home on the Wednesday. Pain level was much less than with the resection. Recovery is another thing altogether....everyone is different and it will probably depend on how low your resection was and how fit you were before surgery. However, I would suggest starting pelvic floor exercises now in preparation for managing control after reversal surgery. Just be prepared for some ups and downs with regard to urgency, frequency, and clustering. It all takes time (and a good sense of humour).
