‘Cause I’m done! At a little over 5 years after stage IIIB RC diagnosis, I'm NED and have officially been sprung from the care of my Oncology team. For peace of mind, I can have my primary care physician check my CEA yearly for another 5 years, but that’s optional. He said that if anything, I’d be more likely to develop a new primary rather than have a recurrence. So I’m done. No more twice a year CT scans, bloodwork, appointments and having this thing lurking in the back of my mind. I am grateful.
I can’t help but think fondly of many people that I met here who are no longer with us. But at the same time, I am grateful for those who are still here, helping those who ask for it and providing information, support, and compassion.
Sharing good news on this board feels bittersweet, but I know from experience how important it is to hear that the treatment can be successful, that it’s possible to be shed of this horrible disease.
Many thanks to all from who've I've received support over the last 5 years,
Cj
