ambien rants

Postby Rob in PA » Wed Oct 07, 2015 11:06 pm

I just noticed a rambling rant that I typed up last night after taking my ambien for the night...which I, thankfully, never submitted. It was about all the "I'm new here" posts and how helpless I feel reading them...only with a few choice swear words for cancer and its odd selection process. How can I help everyone when I need help myself, but alas we help where we can. So,lesson is,if you are reading a post from me after11:00... imalready looped on ambien. Soon to be snoring  anyoneelse have that happen?

Omg, you sound like my hub. I take ambien too but it doesn't affect me much, my tolerance is too high, unless I have a few beers with one, no good!

LOL....I had to stop taking Ambien and switch to Lunesta. My husband swore that I turned into a zombie after 11pm when I took Ambien.
I would say things at night that I didn't remember saying the next morning. I would see the jar of peanut butter out on the kitchen counter the next morning and wonder who took the peanut butter out. Just glad that I didn't do any sleep-driving.

Generic Lunesta works well for me and more of a gradual sleepiness than a sudden semi-hypnotic state.

I'm eastern time zone Pennsylvania. Ambien starts kicking in about twenty minutes after I take it, so my wife always yells at me when she sees me starting to "chat" on the computer after I've taken ambien...

Oh well, it least it puts me to sleep like its supposed to.

I started taking ambien about 6 years ago....and I could tell you some crazy stories. Over the last 4 years, I've been on zolpidem which does not have an effect on me. But then....I take it right when I'm ready to close my eyes.

Jan

You do know it's generic ambien, right?

Anyway, yeah, I have a few crazy stories myself, but only cuz I took it after drinking. 2 off the top of my head (my hub told me) 1 was talking to the shower, the other, he said I told him the laundry basket was my friend and I refused to go to sleep without it

My hub gets more talkative and sometimes posts random weird crap on fb. He has always been a midnight snacker which is bad, and still is, but now just doesn't remember, he will at times wake up with food stuck to him, just tonight he couldn't find the candy he took lastnight, he found it at the top of the bed finally

Yeah, I know zolpidem is a generic of ambien but for some reason zolpidem doesn't affect me the same way. I will take half of a 10 mg and I still have to focus my mind to fall asleep otherwise my mind will race pass the pill and it will become useless.

My most memorable ambien story was falling asleep with a handful of skittles. I woke during the night and saw (what I thought) were a bed full of ticks. I squeeze as far away from these tick only to wake up that morning with skittle stuck in my hair and color blotches on my face. My husband calls it my "skittle tick" story, which he enjoyed telling everyone about.

Ambien stopped working for me after a few weeks. The usage requirements given by the drugstore stated Ambien should only be used for two weeks, so I was not surprised. I am currently using Xanex, and I fall asleep after about an hour after taking the pill. I have heard other friends use Atavan with good success to overcome insomnia.

Xanax doesn't do that for me, ambien/zolpidem is the only thing that somewhat helps, or beer :)

It does seem different brands makes a difference. I have had some generic brands work better or worse than others, weird since they by rights should all be the same. Hmmm
