My wife had her scan last Wednesday. Got the results today. Went from stable for about a year to a couple of new small spots in her abdominal area. And her CEA is now outside the normal range at 5.9 a 1 point increase in three weeks. Not good I think at all - so Maintenance will be changing to FOLFIRI and Avastin from Just 5-FU Avastin. Damn it all! I was dreading this one quite a bit. I Hope my wife tolerates this as well as she has been tolerating the 5-FU Avastin and the initial FOLFOX. We may look into a trial with Cetuximab and Neratinib in combination if this doesn't work.

Scanxiety never really goes away I think. I tried to be optimistic, but that didn't work this time!

Regards,

I'm having a camera up my uturus tomorrow because on the xray the obg saw a blob of fluid.
I'm sure it's nothing, although I was sure it was nothing last year on my first colonscopy.

Ah well just one more sleepless night and a zillion peppermint balls.
( I crave soft melt in the mouth peppermint balls, I'm figuring if I eat enough my stoma bag will smell lovely as well  )

Hope you have prepared something really nice for your aniversary! What ever happends the day before, it's worth a big celebration.!!!!

Grouseman, sorry to hear about the new spots. Since she is in good condition, is hipec on the list?

First off Diane, wishing you luck on your scans.

During the week of Oct 5th I will be doing a Ct scan to check on further growth of 2 lung mets noted in my June scan, a bone scan to track 2 bone mets in my rib/spine likely from my advanced prostate cancer. Also a CEA and a PSA (prostate) to see if the new meds that I started in June are working. I am petrified since I now have 2 active cancers either one could be big trouble !!

I am actually trying to schedule my scan. The Onc didn't put the order in when I called last week to schedule. I'm hoping to get it done before the end of the month.

I am usually very positive, but the truth is the truth. No amount of positive thinking can change that. I am well aware that my scan can mean business as usual or back on the treatment roller coaster. This one is two years post surgery, so a clear scan will be a really big deal as far as stats go. I am expecting a clear scan so, not too nervous about it, but it looms like a dark cloud on the horizon of my current sunny day.

Yep, just found out I am scheduled for next week, a month earlier than I had planned. Still monitoring the lung nodules but also getting the full body CT. Yikes! Liking to think NED is still in the building. I am finally feeling really good. Anyway, good luck to all heading to the imaging tables.
