Y-90 Treatments

Postby PEEJAY » Fri Sep 18, 2015 11:52 pm

This Thursday I go in for some angio-mapping and on 10/13 I will receive Y-90 treatments for my liver mets. The doctor has gone over it with me several times, but I think you guys know what I'm looking for here!

Not Dr. given stats, but real life experience with this treatment? Efficacy and side effects?

As always, I appreciate the responses of anyone who has the time. It's been a while since I've gone under the knife and I'm a little nervous about it.

Hi Jill,

Right now they aren't doing anything for the peritoneal carcinomatosis. Gotta clean up the liver first, they say. Maybe it'll go away, they say. If I get there, they are talking HIPEC.

I believe it is. I've been to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance for some consultation too but I wasn't crazy about their follow-up habits so I haven't been back.

i DID Y90 a little over a year ago for a 7.4cm tumor. It steadily shrunk for 5 months to 3cm which at that point it was small enough to ablate which I had done via cryo ablation. so y90 was very helpful for me. I had little to no side effects. The worse being hiccups for several hours the next day which upset my stomach. I wouldn't be too concerned about going under the knife since for one your are not completely knocked out just sedated so you are still some what coherent.
