This is the title of a wonderful book I read by an oncologist named Jerome Groopman. It discusses the effect mental outlook can have on health and disease outcome, and backs it up with real science. It's very well written and accessible. Very human. I found it to be extremely helpful. I highly recommend it. It's about all of us.

Just bumping this up. This book is too good to miss out on. Some newer posters may not see it too far down the list. Anybody read it yet?

magnolia,
i have not read that book, although i think i may see if i can pick it up (maybe my local Gilda's Club has it, they have a lending library)

i have some extra freetime next week, it'd be nice to finish a book.

I just read "Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster" by Peggy Huddleston. it's more dealign with meditation, but she has study upon case study of instances where your attitude, mentality, energy, etc. can affect your healing.
pretty intereesting.
I'd recommend it to everyone, even those not having surgery.
