I think at the end of the day, it all comes down to genes. I know too many people who do everything right and still get cancer or other serious health issues, and I know a few other people who don't exercise, don't eat the right food or smoke and they are healthy as can be.. A girl friend of mine, her Dad died from CRC at the age of 46, a non smoker. His wife is still going strong today at 86, been a smoker for the past 65+ years.

PS Forgot to add, congratulation to you too for being cut loose by your Dr too.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I'm feeling pretty good today. Had a celebration lunch today with a few friends. Hubby and I will celebrate more this weekend. And there are still a few people I need to tell.

There are people I carry in my heart that did not make it. And I am so very grateful to all the people who helped me to get to this point. For all those still in the trenches, don't give up the hope.

Thank you all again, This forum is truly wonderful.

Congratulations Lee! That's so damn awesome!

And from my understanding; isn't colon cancer generally "cured" at 5, and rectal at 10?

Yes, it's time to celebrate. This coming Christmas I will be 10 years out, but so far as I know, CE tests twice a year and a colonoscopy every 3 years will continue. The colonoscopies haven't stopped because every time one is done, a pre-cancerous polyp is found, which is a risk factor. I don't know exactly why my oncologist continues the blood tests, but I'm fine with continuing them, since he orders a whole panel of tests, including ones for cholesterol, glucose, PSA, and lots of other stuff. It's little trouble for me, and insurance pays, so ...

Thank you again everyone for your warm wishes.

Hubby and I got together with friends and had a great dinner celebration this past weekend.

Now I just have to get through a crown on a tooth tomorrow. I HATE drilling of any kind on my teeth.

These days crowns are painless, though the vibration can be unnerving.

Thank you Greg, I wish. I have a hole in my head & I feel the vibration big time!! What is norm for a regular person (1 hr or less) is an 1 & 1/2 hr for me. When the tears start following, my dentist says it time for a break. Something about that drill noise hurts inside my head. And I've got my IPOD on full blast to drown out the drill noise.

Thanks, I appreciate the good words.

Reminds me, I have to go in, I have had 2 holes in 2 of my bottom teeth for years, everytime I planned to get them fixed something came up, and now one with the hole, the side of my tooth broke off. I guess it's time to get my ass in there!
