License to poop

Postby helen098 » Tue Sep 08, 2015 2:20 pm

Saw my colon doc recently and he says while my muscle tone is good when I engage the muscles
When not in use there is some loss of muscle tone. This is due to the 5 surgeries I had to fix the anal
fistula not the colon cancer, which did shorten my colon and the part they took out is a connector which slows thing down. It’s weird but I can feel and hear water rushing through my colon sometimes.
With the loss of muscle some gas (it I am lucky) can escape.

This summer I have had many pooping incidents… don’t know what caused it
I pooped in the supermarket, the shower (that was a definite sneak attack), in staples (this was fun I went next store to Trader Joes bathroom and was standing there trying to decide if it was better to so commando or keep the underwear on in case it happened again  ….i decided to go commando and used many paper towels as I kind of diaper, got home without incident but boy did I have a rash from the paper towels  , just this weekend I was using a baby wipe to make sure everything was nice and clean and my insides decided I will poop right now well I had the box of baby wipes open and it was almost empty so I pooped in the baby wipe box…..don’t think that was what huggies though they would be used for. I also had a major farting incident on the E train, I have to apologize to the nice family from the Midwest I guess, they were too pale and too polite to be New Yorkers, they were kind of in the wrong place at the wrong time but to their credit that acted like nothing happened and I was very grateful.

I would like to say things will get better but I know for a fact short of a miracle I will continue farting and pooping for many years to come…

Extra underwear and baby wipes make life a lot easier  :D

the new depends are better than the old ones but still not like underwear and kind of expensive
plus in the summer that are so hot to wear
the problem is that it does not happen all the time i can go months without an accident and i don't like to wear the depends all the time

Yeah, I get it. I haven't worn underwear for many years now due to a surgery yrs ago and got used to it. I may have to now tho when I go out just in case. Although underwear wouldn't have helped my last incident.

This reminds me of the last few months before surgery. I had to run into a Subway pooping in my underwear while I was walking to the bathroom. Except I was wearing a skirt! I was so afraid some was going to fall on the floor. What a mess. I feel you.

that must have been horrible lucky i have been wearing pants or shorts for all of my incidents
though many times i am worried about something falling out

can't imagine how bad it would be in a skirt

i now have an emergency kit with me even if i am just going to the supermarket
should probably bring it when i do the laundry as i have pooped there and there wasn't enough time to go home and clean up so i stood outside and prayed no one came over to talk to me

I just bought the depends silhouette low rise, not too bad, still would need to get used to, prob only wear on long trips or to the beach, etc. Places with alot if walking and bathrooms far away too, not sure yet. I should start using them around the house to try to get used to them, altho I don't think I could every day unless absolutely needed.

I admire your humour. I don't know how you tolerate it. I had nothing like that kind of problem and I am MUCH happier with a colostomy. For me, its absolutely normal or nothing.

If you can't laugh about pooping in your
Pants at 50 well then it would be real bad

When it happens I get angry/mad then in a little while I can joke about it

I have a colostomy but I have to worry about pee now. If I ignore the pressure for too long, a little will leak out. Sometimes my bladder releases as I'm sitting on the toilet. It's gotten better now that my would is almost healed, but I still have to be careful. At least it doesn't hurt to pee anymore.
