FOLFIRI and hair loss

Postby Robinf » Thu Sep 03, 2015 11:32 pm

My 3rd FOLFIRI tx is next week and by now I was expecting to be losing hair at a faster rate than I currently am. It almost seems like the thinning has slowed down.

I'm all set up with my wig and I've had nothing but bad hair days for what feels like months as its thinned from my rounds of FOLFOX last year. Wearing a wig is almost sounding like a good thing.

I'm almost getting worried that I wont lose my hair. LOL

For current or previous FOLFIRI folks, when did you lose your hair?

Thanks.

I too had lots of thinning with Folfox but with Folfiri it was coming out so fast by the second treatment that I decided to shave it all off. The trauma of having hair fall in my food and finding it all over the furniture was too much for me. I ended up wearing scarves instead of the wig I had bought. It all grew back afterwards. Now I'm losing it again and I'm not even on treatment. The doctor thinks it may be from me losing so much weight in the last six months since my fistula. I'm trying to be okay with it but hair loss isn't easy. I hope you feel well and the treatments pass quickly.

I'm starting my 9th month of folfiri ( maybe 16 treatments?). My hair was slowly thinning, just as it had on folfox. I had 12 treatments of Folfox and never needed a wig or scarf. I was the only one who really noticed the thinning. Anyway, that's how it was with folfiri, up until these last few weeks when avastin was added. Hair is now falling out faster. I might have a month before needing to use something - just haven't decided what yet. Sigh.....

I experienced hair thinning only on folfiri. Just finished 9rounds. My onc recommended buying a wig as his experience was most have significant hair loss but my wig is still sitting in the drawer. I had about the same hair loss with folfox.

Good luck! Bad hair days are just not fun. During the winter I wore cute little beanies when out and about

I've been on Folfoxiri and then Folfiri since January. I notice some thinning, but friends and family claim not to. Onc said at this point it probably won't fall out. This is after I bought a few hats and some eager friends preemptively shaved their heads in solidarity, hahaha.
