Ya. My wife has had stable scans for a year now. They can still see the tumors on her liver, calcified and unchanged and the presumed small ones on her lungs unchanged since diagnosis, though that has never been conclusively shown to be mets. The met on her spleen has disappeared. So although she is on a maintenance schedule of three days once every three weeks of getting 5-FU and Avastin, she is considered stable. Not NED. They won't do a liver resection, because of the multiple sites having had or presumed to have mets. So for my wife its Chemo for life.
Fortunately she tolerates this very well right now.
Good luck in your and your husbands journey.
