Radiation results

Postby Lydia666 » Tue Aug 18, 2015 7:34 pm

I have done 6 radiation treatments so far (6 out of 28) and there is still bleeding when I go to the bathroom. Shouldn't that stop soon assuming the tumor is supposed to shrink to nothing? I know it's early days, but I don't like seeing that blood. What is the expected evolution of things?

Thank you.

For my husband the bleeding stopped about half way through. Of course everyone's different so try to take peace knowing you are actively treating the cancer with the radiation. Hang in there and best wishes!
wife of DH (04/24/15 dx: age 43) Low RC T3N0M0 stage 2
4/27/15 clear CT
5/18 - 6/25 chemo/rad (ended xeloda on 6/19 due to side effects)
8/12/15 - ULAR scheduled - APR performed due to location - path showed T1N0M0
9/25 begin 5 rounds of xelox
10/30/15 - switch to xeloda only due to allergic reaction
1/22/16- last xeloda!
3/27/16 - post treatment CT - clear except soft tissue presacral area (possibly scar tissue) CEA .5
4/20/16 - post treatment colonoscopy

My mom had radiation done on her liver, but from what I understood, the radiation keeps working even after they stop actively giving you radiation. Which is why they didn't schedule her for a CT until almost two months after her radiation finished. I know it's not the same situation but I hope this helps!
Mom diagnosed Stage 4 with Liver mets 7/2011
July 11: Xeloda and Avastin
August 13: Irinotecan
June 14: Disease Progression

May 15: One week Stivarga -- stopped b/c DRESS Syndrome
July 15: Disease progression
July 15: Start Xelox

My tumour kept on swelling for ten days after radiation was over. I was told that this wasn't normal, but not unheard of either.

Best,

OG

He was taking 4 pills twice a day. I believe it ended up being 4000 mg a day if I remember correctly.

At the end he was too nauseated to eat and was dropping weight too quickly so the oncologist said to skip it the last 4 days.

All is well after 8 radiation sessions. I don't have any side effects yet. I think i'll have to stick to the 5FU pump because the insurance is taking its sweet time to approve Xeloda. I won't change at the end of the treatment.

20 more treatments to go! Counting the days!
