Divine Healing

Hello! I have never posted before, but I have always looked at posts for encouragement. My story is like many. Back in 2008 I wanted a colonoscopy due to having issues. The doctors exact words. "Good luck finding a doctor giving you one at your age". I have family history of colon cancer and basically have had symptoms my whole life. I had 2 miracle babies all the while with a huge tumor growing in me. I went to the Dr 5 times last year. I had an x-ray done and dr said, of don't worry about that, that's gas, not a tumor....I had 2 ultrasounds done nothing! Dr ordered a CT scan in March of 2014 and the radiologist didn't want to put a 31 year old under that much radiation. so the entire summer I was sick with no answers. I was diagnosed with ulcers without being scoped. Finally I demanded a colonoscopy!!! I was diagnosed August 2014 with stage 3 colon cancer. Talk about a trip!

Anyways I am all clear and wanted to share some information on Divine healing. I am not pushing it on anyone, but wanted to share what has helped me. Joseph Prince is a good person that talks about it. Kenneth E Hagin was on his death bed. Doctors told him he had months to live and he started confessing healing scriptures he lived 70 more years
Another good book is "Healed by cancer" By Dottie Olsteen. Great insight! She was told she had weeks to live finding 4 liver tumors back in 1981. She is alive to this day!

Like I said, I am not pushing this on anyone, but If anyone wants anymore information on it let me know!

While I believe that spirituality and faith are very useful in moments of great stress, the facts are that you had surgery and chemotherapy, and my guess is that's the main reason you're clear now. It's important I think for cancer patients to consult with medical experts and not leave their health and lives up the "man" upstairs, or whatever. My two cents.

Congrats on being NED.

When I was going through treatment, I found that hearing/reading stories of people who were long-term survivors was very helpful to me in terms of giving me some much-needed hope. I'm glad these stories of "divine healing" have helped you, perhaps in a similar way.

Sometimes I think about people who credit God with much of their healing, then I think of myself- a nonbeliever (or maybe "noncarer" is more accurate)- and I think that in the end, you're either NED or you're not. Your scan is either good or bad. And whether or not you have a positive attitude, or you pray, or you retreat into negativity, or nihilism, or do all of those... It's all the same.

There is usually enough blame to go around whenever something bad happens, so why shouldn't there be plenty of gratitude and praise for all involved whenever something positive happens. I was born and raised in a Christian home and give God His fair share of credit for my current NED status, but, I must also give credit to my family and friends, and the team of Doctors and nurses who helped get me to this point. I say to each their own, believe whatever keeps you positive and beats this dreadful disease into submission. Congratulations on your victory so far and may you remain NED forever!

I have to admit that though I believe in God, during my adult years I never really practice my faith. I always had years of personal problems which I feel all that stress lead up to my cancer. Now that I have cancer, I feel like a Hippocrate to pray for help now when I couldn't be bother to ask for help those past years.

I now rely on the religious faith of family and friends to protect and watch over me. I always ask for prayers and positive wishes each time I have a scan..I'm a very strong willed person and I believe in mind over matter. I try to keep a positive attitude about my situation and continue to hope I will make it to five years.

Regarding the divine healing....I had a strange situation happen to me. My very religious sister took me to a Christian book shop to buy me an inspirational book. While there, the owner of the store started talking to us and it was mentioned that I had cancer. As we were talking he started walking around me and laying his hands on my shoulders. I really didn't think anything about it. ( I live in the Deep South where the country folks are big huggers) I later learned that the owner was the minister of the church that my neighbor goes to and it was suggested that he was laying hands on me. I had something similar happen to me one other time. I would never purposely go to have a group to "lay hands" on me but I would never prevent anything that might help me.

So glad to see you are NED, Please continue your faith in divine healing just remember you are at the start of your cancer battle. At each 6 months scan, the unknown and possibility of recurrance will put your faith to the test.....I wish faith, hope and strength.

Glad you are NED
The problem I have with this thinking is if it's just positive thinking and prayers that can heal why did my son die. He did chemo up to 2 weeks before he passed. He fought hard, thought positive the whole time. Some things just aren't meant to be and that's life. None of us know when the end will be.

Anyone who is NED for whatever reason .. is OK in my books, more power to you and how you got that way...
STAY NED forever !

As the OP clearly stated ... NOT for everyone ...

my father for example, died of mesothelioma, had unquestionable faith and a deep devotion to his faith
he even got "re" baptized at 70 !!!!
Had a great positive attitude, faith in what IS and what would come to be
faced death with dignity and died with his pastor and family at his bedside.

Positive attitude gave him comfort because that is who he was.
FAITH sustained him while he was dying and as he died .. I know .. I was there

If folks wish to revere anecdotal stories about faith healing ... be strong in your convictions and I hope it sustains you when it is your turn to die .. as we all must.

If you wish me to believe faith healing is a "cure" and will save me just because someone else says it saved them .... ???
Maybe not so much ... for me anyway.

I ....
am on a life long Journey with the Universe
an experiment with " N = 1 "

a spiritual being in a human body

I embrace every success by every other spiritual being and IF their Journey is different from mine and it sustains THEM
NAMASTE

I am still searching for my
"namaste"

BUTT it MUST be my own, not borrowed

CR still on the Journey of a lifetime

Sorry to sound harsh, but if He can heal you, why did He give cancer to you in the first place? As a non believer I just don't get why a god does so many evil things ( like brain cancer to kids for example) is praised when He does something good like healing a person that was ill before.
I realise this might spark off an unwanted debate on this forum, and don't want to offend anyone, I just honestly do not get it.

Annemiek

By the way, I'm all for anything that gives a person peace of mind, wether it's prayers, meditation, chanting or windsurfing.

I agree CR, I believe, but for me, I believe most is what we do. Makes me think of the man on the roof in the flood who died and asked God why he didn't save him, he said he sent a few boats by but he refused them and said God would save him. God's answer was he sent the boats but he refused, so for believers, they need to realize God gives us tools, but we must choose to use them. Well, not always, shit happens, but you get my point, I hope :)

Annemiek,

I've been married to my husband for close to 40 years. In all that time, we never talked religion or would he go to church with me. Years later and before I was diagnosed with cancer, our very religious neighbor brought up the blessings of God. My husband finally gave his opinion on why would God give children cancer so young in their life. Where they suffer and die bringing such heartbreak to their parents. Our neighbor said that God had a greater purpose for them. This angered him so much....but I now understand his lack of religion.

Fast forward to my diagnose....he now has a cross that sits above him in his truck, always passing cancer prayers on Facebook and he won't listen to me when I try to discuss my cancer because I'm being so negative. It amazes me how a person's faith can turn around so fast. Though I know he'll be angry again once I pass on.

As for me....I believe in God but I also believe life is what it is. God didn't give me cancer..it's the pollution of our earth and our genetic makeup that wasn't unable to fight it. I'm trying to stay as positive as possible doing what I hope will help me and hope that whatever has allow others here to surpass the 5 year mark will be on my side also.

Gosh people...leave her alone! She shared something and did not ask you to believe or be negative. For some reason you think it is fine to be mean or belittle other people's ideas or beliefs because you don't agree with them. There was no reason for many of you to respond the way that you did. This is the reaosn I rarely participate on this board.

I think if someone's first post on a cancer board is about divine healing they are probably expecting some discussion about the subject. This discussion has taken place on here numerous times resulting in much disagreement . The OP maybe should have searched the board to see if her information would be well received. I really don't see anyone being mean to her.

Anne, in explanation alone...my beliefs are God doesn't DO these things to us. These are consequences of sin. Hear me out: NOT as a punishment for lying to our friend or treating someone badly or any of the other biblically defined sins. I'm referencing sin starting with the first and original fall of man that resulted in our taking on mortal bodies. Cancer is one way our mortal bodies break down. Another sin is how (some folks, definitely not all) we treat our bodies. Another sin is the pollution we create and then have to wallow in on this earth. God gave us free will, and therefore has to allow sin in this fallen, sinful world. God doesn't GIVE a child cancer. I really don't know or understand why he has to allow a child to suffer like that, let alone us adults. Please understand, I'm not trying to disrespect your beliefs or views at all. But your questions resonated with me as I used to have the very same ones. I now believe God can allow healing, I do believe in prayer and miracles. And I also believe that God gave us the skills of the medical community to use like surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. Much, much love to you. Again, this wasn't to "correct" anything you said. Thank you for sharing openly and hopefully thank you for reading this is the spirit it was intended.

Cynthia,

I can agree this group can be very harsh when it comes to something they don't agree with. Especially when it comes to alternative treatments...they can get downright cruel, to the point where the moderator should be stepping in. I really don't see that same nastiness in these post here.
I didn't think I was harsh since I was only relaying my own beliefs and experiences but encouraged her to continue with what gives her strength.
We weren't making fun, making rude jokes, belittle or teased this person..as I have seen happen in the past. Just folks expressing their own thoughts, just like how the original poster did.
