Removed 7.2cm tumor and 12" of colon, had perforated the back of the colon. Doctor said it had abscessed and created a bag that kept things in. His estimate was stage 3. He said there was some adhesion to my appendix, so he took out the appendix too.

Path report came today, surgeron was surprised. 0 of 27 nodes have cancer. Diagnosis is pT3 pN0. Margins all good (3cm). MMR were all good. Surgeon said "I am certain I got it all".

Oncologist came by shortly after I got results and strongly recommended chemo... We discussed my neuropath. He suggested, instead of using platinium based, that I use Capecitabine.
I was surprised that the said he didn't think I have much to gain from the onctypedx.

Feeling like a just got a miracle. Trying to keep a realistic view. I would be grateful for the input of this forum. I am planning on getting two other professional opinions. One he recommended, one from an independent doctor.

One last thought. Over the last three days in the hospital, I was more prepared and capable of underrstanding and dealing with what I was facing. I know that was from the information I've recieved and read here. you guys were on my mind... Best to the rest of you as we all fight on - hope you get stupid lucky too.

AWESOME!! Amazing that you are already home.

Hope they gave you a script for stool softeners (colace). As your system "reboots", prepare for possible multiple small BMs per day. From what I've read, this is normal -- mine lasted for a couple of weeks, I think. Some people have trouble eating certain foods -- I ate anything, EVERYTHING without problem.

Yep, Xeloda (capecitabine) is pretty much standard, now. Good thing, NO PORT required!

Now that you have your info (T3N0M0), don't forget to plug it into the MSKCC nomogram.

Oh, be sure and stay HYDRATED!!

It's a good start. One wants to nail this thing and be done as much as possible.

What about CA199? That could help you modify your xeloda treatment based on known risks. Depending on the particular levels, especially presurgery level or tumor expression, I'd look at adding PSK and cimetidine or celebrex, too.

Sounds like everything is as good as can be expected! If the second opinions agree the Oxi won't help you, then capecitibane (xeloda) only really is not bad at all. Congrats!

Thats great news. Removing 27 nodes for sampling was excellent. The more you remove the better. Your surgeon did a great job with that. Hope all continues to go well,
