Thank you all.It is in fact adanocarcinoma.I have no other info at this time supposedly all the lymph nodes are not yet done.I am still in the hospital, the bandage came off this morning it looks good. The surgeon didn't come in to tell me he called me on the phone still can't get over that. They just drew blood and depending on how that comes back they may release me this afternoon.

Peace and Love

Hi Everyone,

This board was my lifeline while my darling Pam was ill and I stayed after my beloved passed because you had all become part of my life.True I have never met most of you in person but the place you hold in my heart is forever.Although I know it should not be necessary I am going to preach to the choir for a moment and ask that you all get your colonoscopies as soon as you can. When I went for my physical the last thing I was worried about was becoming a CRC pt myself and yet I find that is exactly what I have become,so please do it.

I ended up having an open sigmoid colocetmy,I was in the hospital for five days.I will finally get my full path report at two pm tomorrow things move much slower in a non cancer center and it has been very frustrating for me to have to wait.In fact on Friday when I knew the entire path was in(because the onc called to make an appt for me) I had my pop drive me all over town trying to get a copy. The surgeons office the hospital and even the pathology lab itself because the surgeon hadn't signed off on it know one would release it to me and I feel like that is so wrong!I do understand that I am probably not an average pt having been in the CRC world because of my baby butt it remains super frustrating.

I was told over the phone by myself in the hospital that part of the path was back and that it is adenocarcinoma butt thats all I know so far.I worry and hope that that is a practice this surgeon will cease to use because it could be so devastating to a person with zero knowledge and lets face it when I first came to this board many years ago thats what I had zero knowledge.I did pretty well in the hospital and was up and walking right away because of my fear of an ileus.I continue to walk 1.5 to 2.3 miles total a day I only walk for about 15-20 minutes at a time multiple times a day.

This past Friday I was able to make it to the shore and have lovely sunset walk.I have had fantastic support during this time and it is one of the reasons I chose to have my surgery here on the central coast butt I am ready to be in my home home see our dogs and sleep in our bed. When I would ask how I did in recovery the nurses would say oh you did fine well I found out friday night that was and wasn't true.Turns out that for reasons unknown they would not let my family into recovery to see and be with me.I have friends that are twins and the came to see me that day and the front desk gave them my room number and they were there as the nurses were wheeling me into my room.

I remember none of it butt apparently first I removed my EKG lines then took off my O2 and finally my O2 saturation level finger thingy well of course that set off all the alarms and the nurses came in and tried to get me to cooperate and I told them I knew my rights and I wasn't in to having brain damage and would wear the O2 sat monitor and put the oxygen back on only if my numbers dropped. So there I was with for some reason my arms straight up in the air and one of my friends says to me Helen whats the number you want to put back on the O2 and I say 93% and she says well it going back on cause your at 92% I cussed butt I did put it back on.

By this time they had advised my family that I was in my room and my mother really couldn't take seeing me in pain and so very bloated and would look away.I told her mom I love you but please quit looking at me and go out of the room cause you look like you are going to collapse.I was very thirsty and could not even have an ice chip and I guess I tried to bribe any and everyone that walked thru the door for any kind of liquid to no avail,I did not get anything to drink until the following Monday at 11am.I also banned a nurse from my room again stating that I knew my rights, thankfully I did not cuss at her.I know this is a big ramble so please forgive me,I have so much more to say and will post more soon.

Peace and Love

~Helen
