Atezolizumab with Avastin trial update!

CT scan results info! Sorry for some of my friends who are in my different support groups, you'll see this cross posted a few times, I am sure.

First off, my onc is still calling me stable. I haven't spoken with him yet...but there is a definite shrinking trend going on:

Scan dates and measurements:

2/9: 40mmx28
3/24: 37mmx30
5/5: 31x27
Today: 27x27

The radiologist keeps warning that the tumor borders are ill defined against an organ wall, so accuracy may suffer...however, the downward trend is undeniable. Also, an enlarged lymph node slightly decreased on one dimension, though I don't have the measurement for that.

No other findings of metastatic disease ANYWHERE. All organs look healthy and unremarkable.

One year ago I went out on a limb to try and save my life. By the Grace of God, the advances in science, and the wonders of the human body....I did it. The trial officially ends this Thursday after my next treatment. However, I was told the company will continue to provide me the medicine as long as I want it/need it.

And that's that!
7/15 DX'd at age 28 w/stage 4 crc. Met to mesentery. Also lynch+
7/15 right hemicolectomy
8/15 started 12 rounds FOLFOX.
2/15 Nanoknife. Gallbladder removal. resections. Complications landed me in ICU for 1 week. 8 blood transfusions.
5/15 Nanoknife failed. Enrolled in phase 1 trial of MPDL3280a (Atezolizumab) & Avastin.
7/15 CT shows I am responding to trial drug. All tumors and nodules shrinking.
8/15 CT scan shows stability of all nodules and target tumor
10/15 CT scan shows continued stability.

I realized today it has been about three months since I updated this thread. I have no been on Atezolizumab and avastin for about a year and a half. My June scan showed shrinkage down to 27mmx27mm...8 weeks after that, my next scan showed slight shrinkage in the target lesions, now 26mmx25mm, and a decrease in the size of satellite nodules. I should be having another scan shortly, so I will update then. I am officially a confirmed partial responder to the drug combo and will keep on going! I Have passed the year mark of the trial with flying colors and look forward to continuing on in the name of science!

Wow. Great news and thanks for posting your past year here. I'm looking at this treatment, I don't know if I am MSI or not yet due to insufficient biopsy sample. My Oncologist said we could do another biopsy if my next scan shows growth.
It's just encouraging to know this is working for you.

Have you been tested for lynch? It's a simple test that is now being recommended for all CRC patients. They can do a blood draw or spit test...and that would tell you if you are msi high without a biopsy.

I have been tested for Lynch, but not MSI. It was a different marker associated with lynch. I am frustrated that they didn't do the standard tests and wasted my sample. I didn't know you could test the blood to determine MSI.
