Blue poop?

Postby MSJC » Sun Jun 28, 2015 8:47 am

After seeing a toilet filled with blood a couple of years ago, my life has changed... now it seems I've become a poop inspector. Not to be too graphic or funky, but once it's happened to you, it's like a moth drawn to a flame, you have to look every time! My wife got a good laugh when I came out of the bathroom yesterday. I was nearly in shock wondering what form of mutant CRC I had developed that could possibly make your poop turn blue. I was in a state of panic and headed straight for Dr.Google when she calmly reminded me of a blueberry/pomegranate Gatorade that I had consumed earlier that morning. For just a few moments I was freaked out and scarred shitless! Of course we both had a good laugh, but it was just another reminder of how this damn disease changes you forever...can I get an Amen!!!

Also beware of red velvet cake. Can look like blood in your poop. I remember reading here of someone who even went to the ER in a panic!

Funny that you mentioned red velvet cake... I love it! and was also freaked out around Christmas time last year, I didn't go to the ER but was also in a panic till I realized it has a lot of red food coloring in it!

Don't been ashamed about being a poop inspector. I also do it, out of pure fear. I once got scared because I didn't understand why there were small pieces of a foreign items in my stool. Then I realized it all the flax, chia and hemp seeds along with the 9 grains bread I eat.

And yes, red food dye can do a number on one's poop.

I had a very similar experience, but with red gatorade. I was at work (in an ER no less) and thought I passing all sorts of blood. Decided to ignore it for a while and several hours later remembered that I drank the gatorade. Tomato soup has gotten me too. And watermelon, red velvet cake cookies...

I have a bag and yes it is interesting what can show up at the other end. But I will admit, I have not seen blue poop yet. I'm sure you both will remember that one for many yrs to come.

The really funny part is my 3 year old Grandson called me into the bathroom a few days ago to "help with some paperwork" after he was finished using the potty. His poop was a really bright green color! We did a thorough head to toe inspection and came to the conclusion that he had eaten a crayon, sidewalk chalk, or something else gnarly that only a 3 year old could consume. I found out after my "blue" episode that his Mom had given him some green apple Gatorade. They should put a warning on the label of that crap!
