Mom's reversal surgery

Postby lhawk0730 » Fri Jun 26, 2015 10:49 pm

Mom became convinced chemo would be easier to complete after her ileo was reversed. She was getting very dehydrated and thinks being reconnected will fix that. So here I sit in the waiting room of the hospital as her surgery should be wrapping up. She will be on the pain pump, which I am personally dreading. (She mouth breaths and sets off the CO2 monitor every 5 minutes.). I will be staying the night with her. Thanks for reading.

I did get very dehydrated, went into renal failure, and my surgeon decided to reverse me after 3 weeks. Chemo didn't change things much for me, according to what others have said about their reversal. Reversal is hard either way, so you might as well kill 2 birds with one stone. Also, you may be able to keep your insurance out of pocket, in one calendar year.

Surgery seemed to go well. This is day 2 of recovery. Hoping she will be up and walking and that this is the key to getting chemo done and over with.

Justin, thanks for sharing. It was worrisome to put chemo on hold for this. So its good to hear others have dealt with this too.

Hope your Mom is doing better. Yes walking is one of the best things she can do for herself right now. Good luck with her upcoming chemo and getting adjusted to her new plumbing. Hope all goes well for her.
