Hi.
Certainly not a professional approach, but best to remember it is a bad example of one doctor.

Just after my diagnosis I had an EUS. I was told by a very compassionate nurse that the sedative might not work. I had no pain, but I remember every moment including the basic fact that my name was not Mrs Gibson. I argued about that FACT until they gave me another shot. I did not know at that time I had the right to say no. Anyway, I totally remember the entire procedure including the fact that the two Drs were discussing the political situation in Egypt. I also clearly remembering the Dr telling me and my husband that I had a T3 tumor of my rectum. He was a total jerk and we went for a second opinion. Best thing I ever did. Only wish I had at least sent a letter to the Texas Medical Bosrd. Stage 0... Fine 5 years later
Dx Feb 2010 4 cm tumor, just inside rectum
EUS stated T3 tumor
2nd opinion, need better path
Mar 2010 transanal surgery. Surgery by board certified CRS found tumor only in lining
6 exams of surg site, 3 PET, 3 scopes laterNED.
Scope in Mar2015, clean colon
Next scope/test in 3 years

As someone said on the radio, that's just really juvenile, shockingly unprofessional behavior. I'd be ashamed to act that way around my colleagues and co-workers What happened to professional pride?

What happened to professional pride?
Apparently like too many other things bro' ... it has a price.

She got fined / ordered to pay $500K to the "victim"

Some folks apparently just don't know when to keep their mouths shut ....
and just ALWAYS have to give their 2 cents worth ...

Oh sorry $500K worth ! ... so some malpractice insurer pays the hit,
figures the loss into the actuarial calculations and we all get higher premiums right along with her.

Can't cure stupid I guess so just pay a higher premium

She sounds like a bit of a wind up though. Would not let her work on me, it is safe to say.

Umm,
I,wish this guy took a shower.

I hope he brought his checkbook.

It's not very long, but it would sure bust the sides out of a tuna can.

Oops.

Turn it up,I like that song.

That's a few.

However the anesthesia works for colonoscopies...I unfortunately remember a bit too much. During my last one I wasn't too pleased to hear the gastroenterologist state "oh I don't think he's gonna like this too much!"

I think there is a slight possibility this patient really was extremely difficult. Not excusing the behavior but I can understand it somewhat.

My dnl used to be a surgical tech in a hospital & clinical setting. She said doctors are just like everybody else. So hopefully during the more complicated procedures, they don't have time to talk about the patient or their golf game or hospital gossip. There just may be fewer perforated colons if there was less talk & more focus. Happened to my brother a couple of years ago. He was offered a free colonoscopy next time around, but I doubt he took him up on it.

On one occasion for a procedure, I just waited for the doctor who is always late. It was a flex sigmoid without anesthesia. Upon insertion of the apparatus, I gave way to the fart I'd been holding for quite some time. All I heard was thank you for that

Once, when I was in the recovery room following minor surgery, I remember the recovery nurses giggling about how talkative I had been despite the anesthetic. To this day, I am afraid to know what I said!!!
