Just a vent and a warning for anyone looking to buy a bidet.

Postby drw » Tue Jun 02, 2015 7:58 pm

Hello all. I haven't written in a while, but I'm so mad I have to vent. So, I am currently NED and am done with all treatment, but I just had my reversal on 3/19. It didn't take me long to start reading posts about how everyone else handled the everyday torture of going to the bathroom. After reviewing different bidets, I decided on the Biffy. I thought it was a reasonable price and seemed to have good reviews. Well, I ordered it on 5/7, received it on 5/14 and my husband installed it that night. I gave it a couple of trial runs that evening and was pretty happy, I could see better mornings in my future. Obviously, I'm not a psychic because that very next morning when I went to the bathroom... there was my biffy... the sprayer arm laying in the toilet. Ok, so that's not good. I called the company when they opened and was told to package it up and mail it back to them for a refund, which I did for another $15. I then received an email from the company saying that they got my return and to call them. When I called them this morning, I was told that they inspected my biffy and that I must have done something to it because it was not a manufacturer defect. I told him that we didn't do anything wrong and he asked if we had a plastic toilet seat because that will cause the arm to break off. I told him that our seat is wood and that it worked fine that night and sometime overnight it broke off... sounds defective to me. Anyway, he said he would have to talk to the GM and have him call me this afternoon. I called them back this evening and spoke to the super rude GM who basically said the same thing - not their fault, must be mine. He just kept repeating that plastic doesn't spontaneously combust and we did something wrong. I asked what we possibly could have done to have the arm fall off in a matter of hours... I can't even begin to explain how frustrated I am that they won't refund me my money. When my husband got on the phone and insisted that they refund our money, the GM hung up on him. Nice, huh? So I got on some sites where they sell their products and gave them my reviews and I contacted BBB, hoping that would make me feel better... nope, still mad. I cut coupons to save 50 cents, so you better believe that I am livid at flushing $119 plush their stupid $15 postage.

Ok, thanks to whoever reads this. I know in the big picture, this is nothing. We have had to deal with all kinds of horrible things, but for some reason, I am really MAD. Rant over. :?

Hopefully posting on this forum alone will cost Biffy much more than 119.00 dollars!

Well, if mom ends up choosing a bidet, it won't be a Biffy...there goes another $119 out of their pocket. I'm sorry. Its not so much about the money, we know. Its that you need\want a bidet in the first place. Its that you paid good, hard earned money for something that couldn't even stay assembled throughout the night! To have to deal with cancer, surgery, chemo...ugh all of it...and THEN a jackass over the phone who reads his prewritten denial script to you...just ugh! I'm sorry. :x

I bought a hand spray hose. They look similar to kitchen sink spray hoses, but have a longer hose and attach to the side of the toilet bowl, and some allow you to regulate the pressure of the sprayer. In my area, you can buy them at Home Depot, probably because we have so many South Asians living here. Hand held bidet sprayers are the norm in the Muslim world. I think you can also find them on Amazon. I installed them on all my toilets and they're great. Sure, I"d love a fancy Japanese toilet but these are a cheaper alternative.

Thanks, label. That seems to be the only way some companies listen...money. For what it's worth, I have been using a water bottle and it helps. Sending thoughts and prayers for you and your mom.

Karin, my daughter has one of those that she uses for cloth diapers. I will have to check into that. Thanks for the tip and I hope you are feeling well.

Thought about it, and decided this was an appropriate thread to mention the time I was able to fulfill one of my bucket list items. A few years ago, mr. nut and myself traveled to Japan and happened to stay at a very nice hotel. One of the best things about this hotel was the deluxe toilet with buttons for front spray, back spray, a pleasantly warm burst of air for drying, and not least, a heated seat. Being the adventurous sort, I tried all of the features. I'm so happy I did, because now with the Barbie Butt it just wouldn't be the same.

I bought a bio-bidet. After 4 years or so of pretty intense operation ( ), it went on the fritz. I called up the local dealer who came to the house, picked it up, repaired it and returned it. Of course there was a charge, but it was reasonable. So if you're looking for an alternative to biffy, I suggest checking out bio-bidet.

Hey Nicola! I'm thinking of getting one for my mom. Which one did you get? (I'm hoping to get one with a remote, because her range of motion after a hospital stay is limited.) I saw this Costco one, and of course, "bio-bidet" will be forever linked with your recommendation. :)

I've had a Biffy since my reversal in March of 2013. The first one I got lasted almost two years. When I reordered a new one after the first one went on the blitz I had TONS of problems. First it took forever for it to get to me. Two weeks without a bidet was not good for my bottom. THEN it leaked. Got them to send me another one and IT leaked. Eventually they sent me TWO (thank god) and I'm now using the second one because the first one just stopped working. The one I currently have starts too soon and stops too late so I end up with water up my back. Their original model worked well and when I reordered they had changed the model - not working so well. I endorsed them in the beginning, but not I don't think I'll buy anything else from them. Bad quality control and bad customer service.

Hi Green Lake Girl - ir's so good to hear from you. We just bought a second BioBidet - the new model number is BB2000, and it's working really well (we put the one we bought 4 years ago in the guest bathroom). This new one has an improved remote function that should work for your mother. I don't know the one pictured in your link. Here's the one we got.

Hope you are doing well
