That's rough, CR. No question that's one pup who will get all the love, care, attention he needs.
Hope you don't mind if I post this "On Your Journey":

CRGuy:
My heart aches for the loss of your GrandPup.

Your GrandPup could not have had a more caring and responsible grandfather and veterinarian than you to walk with through life.

Your posts spoke eloquently of your GrandPup. You wrote: “He is absolutely the best dog, ever. Word ! ”

I know your heart is hurting, right now. You did all that you could for your GrandPup and made the right decision to spare him from pain.

I think people who do not believe in soulmates just haven’t met the right animal yet.

While I will never have the right words to help heal your heart, please know know that my heart is sad for you.

Thinking of you,
Karen

Thank you Karen, for your kind words.

It IS so very difficult to know what lies ahead, and that last step over the Rainbow Bridge is still to be taken.
We are keeping him at a great level of comfort and other than a mild limp you would not know he is ill.

CRguy, I hope you have lots more time with your big, beautiful, headstrong grandpuppy.

You are right. Your spirit and his are connected at a very deep level. I firmly believe that what we generate multiplies. You both generate wisdom and strength, and you are both anchored together on this plane of existence. Let that connection, that strength, nurture you both right now.

xo,
JJ

So sorry for what you are going through, I feel your pain. We lost 2 pets last yrs. My dog, my son's cat. I suspect we will lose our other cat this year. It's hard when they get old. They are family.

Gentle hugs to you and your dog!

Lee

CR.....I hope that this year finds gentleness for your furgrandbaby and your family. Like Lee, I suspect that we, too, will lose a family furbaby.....our last pooch....beagle Roxy. It is SO difficult to watch our furbabies to pass on. We don't want them to suffer yet we don't want them to leave us. Hugs to you and your family.....especially any grandchildren who have this pup as their family furbaby.

Hey Crguy....
How is the grandpooch doing?
Keep us informed.
We are still dealing with our pooch and the TCC. Piroxicam/CBD seem to be keeping things in check....fingers crossed!

Thanks Jaynee
moving ahead one limp at a time

THAT is the only sign for now
Happy, wagging, eating well, begging for treats
sleeps a lot (= bullmastiff ! )

have 3 vet specialists / protocols on review for medications etc.
laser / acupuncture / NSAIDS / opioids / neuropathics / NMDA receptor antagonists / bisphosphonates
All seems to be keeping him happy ....
AND I am loving this .... no side effects so far

Harmony and best wishes to "pooch" ! TCC and Piroxicam is a good fit. Glad CBD is helping.

Cheers

Not exactly sure what CBD is doing.....read that it may have some anti-cancer benefits????
Roxy is still happy, eating well, no sign of any obstruction (i.e. peeing just fine, no problems either with bowel movements)
Sleeps fairly regularly but heck she's almost 15 so what else can I expect??
Some days she still has her bound up the steps and run around....I guess she thinks it is playtime???

You will probably think that I am nuts, but there are times outside when she goes chasing....as though she and Lesley are running around after each other. Personally, I still believe that Lesley comes around from time to time....dang I miss that furbaby

All in all, Roxy doesn't appear to be sick at all....except for the nightly pad that has some spotting on it. Other than that....no other signs/symptoms. I guess we should be happy. Hopefully she can have another summer of walking around the year, sniffing the squirrels and just enjoying the warm weather. She loves to lay in front of the pellet stove....but it's not the same as the sunshine.

Hope your grandfurbaby is happy and not in too much pain. It sucks when our furbabies get sick. Honestly, I just can't do this again. It takes too much out of me and makes me SO sad. I still am missing my Laylay.....she's always around me. That kind of pain just doesn't go away.

Give your grandfurbaby a big hug and just enjoy every minute with him.
