Many thanks for all the shouts here ma' homies !!!

Yes … it has been "interesting"

Thinking back …. first started having issues in August of 2006 so I've been dealing with CRC for 10 years
and in active diagnosis, treatment or follow up for 9 years.

I'm sure I coulda' found a better way to spend a decade of my life
BUTT then I would not have met all you great folks

aside :
when I was picking up my disc of the latest CT, I ran into a high school friend and his wife.
He was there for X-ray 'cos he'd had chemo interrupted due to pneumonia …… lung cancer.
He was already 3 treatments into a clinical trial with immunotherapy + chemo. I told him all the great work that is now being done and how the BCCA is at the edge of some immunotherapies.

Thinking back, when I started, Xeloda was the latest and greatest = FU in a pill !!!!
NOW with all the research and advances we are hearing about from DK37 and others ….
The future is looking like HERE and NOW.
Can't wait to see what the future holds.

Cheers and Harmony to all on the Journey

No kidding, CRguy...that sure puts things in perspective. In 2004 Avastin was the new tumor buster.
Getting your walking papers can be a little unsettling as docs & tests become a way of life. Kind of like being caged for years & all of a sudden the door opens, I would imagine.
My brother developed screeching tinnitis a couple of years ago, one ear, now in both. He replicated the sound on his computer for me & I could not believe how loud the sound. Enough to drive a person insane. Wrenched his neck lifting a TV out of the car, went to the chiropractor, came out w/tinnitis.

Congrats, Best Wishes

This somewhat gives me hope.
Just diagnosed with stage IV mCRC 3 months ago and was handling FOLFOX pretty well until now. Makes me worry that (since it only gets worse) I won't be able to handle it for long---and this is too soon to not be able to handle it. My onc says I'll need chemo for the rest of my life (every two weeks). Not sure how to handle this and live 9 more years like you. Don't know how you did it. But I'd like to know how.

First ...... welcome !
second ..... keep reading the great folks here, AND if you want the Iron Man version of chemo,
PLEASE pay attention to my bro' BrownBagger ( Eric )

Motto: Live your life like it's going to be a long one, because it just might, and then you'll be glad you did.

Wish I had a secret I could share
I think mostly good genes ... to help with the survival thing .. BUTT not so perfect I didn't get hit in the first place

Keeping as positive and pro-active as I could.
Finding good docs but still being prepared to advocate for myself and push them when needed.
Great family and support network.
Being able to share, rant and just BE .... here on the forum with all the great folks and friends who KNOW wazzup.
Wanting to do my part to keep this whole CRC bullshit "in the news" and on the minds of folks who can help on the battle lines.
Not taking myself too seriously most of the time, but reloading with both barrels and letting loose when needed.
Being grateful for being able to still be here.
Not expecting I should really be any different than all my friends here and at home ...
SO I keep on keeping ON, living the adage : "Sometimes life is what it is ... BUTT may not always be what it seems"

sorry for the philosophy vent ... BUTT that is pretty much where I feel I am right now.

Best wishes on YOUR Journey
you have found a great place to be .. if you need to be here !
