Worse case? A monster like Farid Fata abuses them by administering chemo when none is warranted. Or administers many times MORE chemo than is standard procedure...or...charms them into believing he can cure them...
553 patients DID NOT question Farid Fata and suffered devastating side effects, or worse.

45 years in jail is not enough. Really hoping that now that the Feds are done with him, some civil cases will be brought...

CRguy, happy to hear about your pre-results.

Funny this should come up now when I am going back "on the road again"

I had a visit this week with my awesome PCP and I shared the recurrence in the lymph nodes and all my recent test results.

He comments on my recent PET results and said to me:

"Chris I see that these are the same nodes that lit up on your Pet scan in Dec 2010. It wasn't much of an uptake so they (onco) must of just wanted to wait and see if it showed on another scan... which was a CT scan ...not a PET and it said stable after that . Then all your other CT scans in the following years there was not a mention of the node(s). So the cancer must have just been there dormant for all this time and you may have had an immune system event that triggered the node back to active cancer."

So CRguy when you say pre-results it truly backs up what my PCP thinks happened to me.

I do remember back to those PET results from 2010, shortly after I finished chemo, and the onco saying ... "well I asked the radiologist if the node could be biopsied and he said no... so why would they even put it in their report".

Now I am looking back and thinking on how this all came down to a recurrence at almost 5 years after chemo ended....and read about your persistence with the results on your most recent scan.

I should have requested a PET scan for follow up after that but I believed my doctor's response on the results and the lack of urgency about this very slight uptake.

Slow grower was there just waiting to come alive again. I am sure the stress of this last year was a trigger.... but for now, today... it is what it is.

I am wiser and will not be going back to his practice. Sticking with Emory Winship Cancer all the way this time... seeing the surgeon on Monday the 27th for consult and bring up the HIPEC.

You are so awesome CRguy and your post has made me a better survivor from now on.
Thank you so much!

Glad you have a go to doc now and keep pushing them all the time

Which segues right to Sleen's point ..... We, here are sometimes our BEST resource and by connecting and communicating WE can provide each other with enough "virtual second opinions" to at least arm a patient with the knowledge that many times there can be a different set of eyes looking, a different treatment to pursue and a different way to approach what we are facing.... JULY 31 -> UPDATED

Postby CRguy » Fri Jul 31, 2015 2:57 pm

Image

So just got back from Onc appt.
summary : fatty infiltration and fat mass, no cysts or solid masses present = not met ! ... = good news !

Got to train and harrass another new resident today
went over the U/Sound report with apparent 100% complete acceptance that there "is nothing to worry about and we are very happy, and no need for more imaging ... "

" OH ... really ? Sorry we have not met before, thanks for the info, now HERE IS what we are going to do !"
I even got to quote my famous " You WILL MISS more for not looking than not knowing " line and resident scurried off to consult with the Onc.

Plan : repeat U/Sound in 6 months and keep CT scans to yearly, and back with my own Onc from now on with bloods every 6 months
==>> I like all this, so we are good to go !

NOW here is where the advocate part comes in again : my report mentioned a history of lung and liver resections after CRC = NOT !
SO had to get records Dept. to contact the dictating radiologist to correct this.

Read your reports, make sure they are correct, make sure you understand what is being told to you and especially done TO YOU ....
AND ALWAYS BE or have an advocate ....
ALWAYS !

Cheers and Harmony all
