Volva is right. Lung mets are easier to deal with
than liver mets. I have a nose met too.
It has remained stable for almost 8 months
now. The only one with minimal growth !

I have a colony or two living in my lungs and making babies all the time. I have a little less get up and go but overall no biggie so far.
I did give up smoking pot recently to buy
myself a little more time. No lung pains, just short of breath for no reason sometimes.
Caregiver to DH 59 yr, male, Stage IV at Dx
Dx Sept 2009
Liver,bladder mets, 5 surgeries
Lots of chemo
Inoperable lung mets nov 2013
Stopped all treatments in February 2014 due to QOL issues
I am in God's hands now !!
Feb 2015 - too many new mets to count !

Deb, this just sucks and I'm sorry. If it is of any help, I too have "innumerable" mets (liver) and they haven't grown much going on 3 years now. Fall apart, eat ice cream, I know you'll come out swinging.

btw, I looked into that study briefly earlier today for another poster, and it does look promising...

Deb, I am so sorry to hear this update - even more sorry to hear how you are feeling as a result. Your emotions are quite understandable. But Vilca is right. Liver mets are much more dangerous. Take some time to rant and wail -- and then reload! The clinical trial at Cleveland sounds good. Sending you strength!

I'm sorry about your news Deb. As others have said, lung mets are easier to deal with than liver mets. I've had both over the years and particularly the lung mets were pesky buggers to get rid of. Played "whack a mole" with them for about three or four years.

Come out swinging!

From the bottom of my heart .... Thank you everyone. Your responses and encouragement make me feel like I am not alone and I so needed that. Family is supportive but have not managed the news well and I have spent the past days picking them back up.

It has been a strange few days ... I seemed to have no emotion and that worried me. I was just numb. I wanted to be angry, scared, upset but I was just like living on the outside of my body looking in ....

I read a post today on the board that really made me very sad and rocked my world a bit .... that triggered me so have had a darn good cry and a bit of release.

Onc called Friday. Looks like one of the nodules at 8mm is big enough to biopsy so will find out this week and then go from there. Will keep you informed. I didn't know that lung mets are easier than liver .... Thanks for telling me that ..... So much to still learn!

Again, than you all .... You have no idea how much your support means (actually you probably do!)

Effing cancer!

That no emotion and distance from the body seems really understandable - how do you process such huge news, all at once, unexpectedly, and with such un-understandable twists and turns (the nose??? Have you been snorting cancer??)? It often for me too takes somebody else's sad news to release my tears.

As all have said, it's great the liver isn't involved. You'll regroup and punch that cancer in its damn nose!
