Really??!!?? UNEXPECTED GOOD NEWS!
Posted: Wed May 06, 2015 11:18 am
I was to have what was advertised to be my last "real" onc appointment and "last" CT scan today. My liver resection was 5 years and one month ago, and my onc told me a year ago he would declare me cured today. Uhhhh....not so much. My CT scan showed several large mediastinal masses. He doesn't think they are CRC mets, butt thinks it looks like I have a new primary cancer. He's going to be getting me in for a PET soon, and is referring me to the lung cancer specialist who will do a bronchoscopy very soon. So, I'm back on the cancer fast-track. I guess there's a very small chance it's nothing other than inflamed notes, butt that's not too likely.
I'm sure more news will be to follow.

Pardon my language, Bev, butt that just sucks. I'm hoping it will turn out to be nothing.

Bev....so sorry to hear this rotten news. I really hope it is a big bunch of nothing-to-worrry-about. When I saw my onc in March, he said "you are cured" and I was ready to punch him in the nose!!!! I felt like he was jinxing me! Best wishes to you and tons of GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!

Oh, Bev... I had my mets 6 years after stage 1, when I already forgot that I ever had cancer.... only 5% have something like that happening and not after 6 years, but sooner... so, s@@t happens, but I think there is still a chance it is not cancer, lets wait for the results of PET and bronchoscopy... Very sorry about such an unexpected bad news, I can't stop being unpleasantly surprised at the tricks cancer has in his sleeves....
Hugs and positive vibes to you, your right - nothing new, back in trenches and dealing with it step by step without morbid associations, fears, despair, anger, just creating a plan of action, doing it the best you can and not thinking or worrying of your cancer until next step in the plan is due. You've done that once, you will do it again....... Vilca
