I had my first colonoscopy yesterday because I was passing mucus and some blood. A 4 cm villous adenoma was discovered in mid-rectum and biopsied. Doc said he thought it was benign, but I was reading that 40% of villous adenomas this size are cancerous. I Also read that removal of large adenomas like this can be pretty involved. I hope I don't have to have a rectal resection. It is important that these polyps be removed right away? Because I have a 3 week holiday planned with my daughter 6 weeks from now. It's the weekend so I can't reach my Doc. Worried. Any words of wisdom welcome. Thank you.
