Still loose stool, 9 months after surgery

Postby Bostonzj » Thu Apr 16, 2015 1:01 pm

I am 9 months after surgery, and most of the time still have loose/watery stool, not diarea, just kind of more water in it. I don't poop too much, once a day in the morning. I don't know if it is normal? anyone experience the same thing as me?

Take a look at this article: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3110673/

I am a 15 year survivor :D. My treatments included pre-surgery chemo and radiation...then colon resection...then adjunctive chemo. I still go through periodic changes in my BMs. Additionally, I can often feel my BM passing through the scar tissue near my rectum, especially during bouts of diahhrea

If you are really concerned, talk to your doctor. Part of his job is to coach you through the side effects as they occur and to provide options to ease them.

My DH is 4 years out from surgery and still has exactly the same watery poop that he had right after surgery. It's just his new normal after losing nearly a foot of colon.
