That is around the time when I quit -- just 1 day before surgery. I knew I wasn't going to be able to smoke in the hospital (they're very strict), and I wanted to assure myself that I could go for a few days without a cigarette. It wasn't that hard, so long as I didn't have to work. (I had work associations with smoking.) Now, nine years of not smoking later, it is very seldom that smoking even crosses my mind (much less work).

I emailed my doc to see what he recommends as an alternative. I just can't do this right now. I'm stressed enough already!

Nik, those E Cigarette are a good substitute according to my brother.
It takes a little getting use to but you catch on quick.
The ingredients you inhale are harmless the are; propylene glyco, vegetable
Glycerine and artificial flavours. That's all that's in those and I comes in tons
of flavours. I think they are quite safe. It is basically the same as puffers.

This is the perfect time to kick the habit Nik, just try to get over the hump and hopefully during hospital stay and recovery you will lose the urge.

Hi Nik,

In the mean time while your waiting take a pen and paper and write or draw something for a while, I heard than the sensation of the pen in your hand that you usually hold the cigarette can help stop the urge to smoke as your hand is holding something, its all to do with tricking the mind, same principle as the e cigarette.

Give it a try it might help

As you get further along without cigarettes, take time to taste your food as your taste buds awaken, breathe in all the wonderful food smells and flowers and good thing as your sense of smell comes back.
