First Descents trips

anyone else here going on a first descents trip this summer? I got my application in and am all accepted and set to go kayaking in North Carolina with them may17th-23rd! I was too sick to go last year, by the time I thought I would be well enough I was wait listed. Excited I can go this year.

12/7/12: 30 yrs. old, Dx stage 4b.mets to liver, ovary, nodes, ommentum.
7 months chemo, shrinkage!
8/26/13 HIPEC, colon resection,hysterectomy, appndx, gallbladder out.
9/12/13:leak in colon, temp. loop ileost, home 9/18
11/3/13: liver resect.
1/2014 Ostomy reversal, one week later, abcess surg., fistula, tpn.
No more chemo, NED since 11/13

Rhea,

You should have a great time kayaking....it's a very popular activity in North Carolina so you' should be meeting many new friends.

I don't know what " First Descent" intinerary for the week will be but I hope you'll also be doing some sightseeing.

There's a Hannah casino , if you like risking your money.
You are in the Smoky Mountains so you should see a lot of nature happening.
A little over an hour is Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge ( Dollywood)
In the other direction, about an hour is Ashesville ..Biltmore, shopping and etc.

Last years, the board was looking for someplace to have a get together...something like this would be great since there are many activities to cover everyone likes.

So happy you are getting out....have a great time...we all desire a break.....

Thanks Jan, I'm really looking forward to it, the area looks stunning!

Kenny...you read my mind, haha...

I am looking forward to it, I've never been on a trip with complete strangers before though, I hope there's beer.
