My DH is gone

Postby Nodak » Sun Mar 08, 2015 1:29 pm

We went into the hospital on Monday Feb 23rd and never got to come home again. My DH was yellow with jaundice, becoming more confused and his stomach appeared swollen. We went in to the ER where he had 2 liters of fluid drained from his abdomen but it returned quickly. He became more and more confused. We made a plan to come home on hospice once he was stable but that never happened. He became more and more drowsy, eventually sleeping all day and passed away early Friday morning. I feel as if my heart is physically broken. We have had to go on, planning the funeral, greeting all our family and friends and now it is just over. I know I will eventually be grateful for the 34 years of marriage we shared.,but today I am not even able to console my children. The sadness is overwhelming. I'm sorry maybe this is too much information. I will return to the board and hopefully contribute something to help others in the future. Thank you for being here for our journey.

So sorry about your husband. You shouldn't feel guilty about not being able to console your children. Your grief will be very different from theirs and you all need to help each other. Take care of yourself.
