Is ADAPT Therapy only for Stage 4 Patients?

Postby testing765 » Wed Mar 04, 2015 9:38 am

I was wondering if ADAPT therapy is only designed for stage 4 colon cancer patients? I want to speak to my oncologist about ADAPT, I am not sure, what, if anything, that he knows about ADAPT. Is there a short information document available that explains the ADAPT protocol?

They will be trying it for other stages after completion of the current study, if I remember correctly. So far, I believe they use it only for stage 4. Go to PubMed and enter ADAPT, Dr. Edward Lin, Xeloda and Celebrex - you should be able to find a protocol. The doses were discussed many times here, as well as detailed info about ADAPT, so search the forum. Dr. Lin's patent papers are also on the Net, so if you Google, you should be able to find all the info that interests you, including the phone # for your oncologist to call and talk with Dr. Lin.

Hi testing765 -

That's a good question. I, too, have been looking for a short PDF document on ADAPT, but I haven't found one yet.

Here is a starting point, with a few links that have brief overviews:

"...the ADAPT study, a Phase II clinical trial aimed at metastatic colon cancer patients that uses two drugs; capecitabine, a chemotherapy drug; and celecoxib, an arthritis medication more commonly known as Celebrex. Together, this combination is designed to wake up cancer stem cells that would otherwise hibernate during chemotherapy and kill them. So far, some 40% of Dr. Lin’s patients have achieved complete or near complete response from this drug combination..."
