Hi. I just got back from a presentation that my oncologist gave on behalf of a local cancer support group. He mentioned that PD-1 inhibitors are showing some good results in the area of immunotherapy. Do you know whether a PD-1 inhibitor would work on colon cancer? Do you know of any PD-1 inhibitor trials for colon cancer?
Do people in stage 3 of colon cancer enroll in trials? Or do people wait until they are at stage 4 before they might enroll in a trial study?
As I understand, phase 1 trials test the toxicity of the drug being tested. In the past, a phase 1 trial study could make the patient extremely sick or even kill him/her. One interesting thing the oncologist mentioned was that, today, because potential treatments for cancer are much more specifically and accurately targeted to begin with, entering phase 1 trials today is more promising than enrolling in a phase 1 trial years ago.
