BS,
The reason for the injections verses pills issue is that injections only last 24 hrs in the body while pills stay in your system for 5 days. If I start bleeding out again, they hope to stop the bleeding sooner.

Another challenge has been placed on my plate.
Now I have to walk a tightrope between stroking out or bleeding to death.
The cancer is eating away at something inside me that is causing the internal bleeding. That can't be fixed, so my choices are limited.

I have chosen to go with the daily injections for now.
I need time to think this through for the long haul. I hate needles. This medication stings going in and the spot is still sore the next day. I can't see myself putting up with this for the rest of my life. I'm not that disciplined.

I'm tempted to take a gamble and request the pills anyway. The only problem with that is that these pills may make the bleeding worse. If I start bleeding at the rate I was bleeding last time, 5 days could have tragic consequences.

It all comes back to the quality of life issue verses longevity.

I have overcome many challenges in the past. I still feel invincible but this is a big decision. I only get one chance at getting it right.

Hi Frenchie,

So sorry about this recent turn of events. I took those shot for while for another medical reason. Not sure if you've done shots before, but the are super small, and you inject it just under the skin. Little to no pain. From a person who hates shots, they were not bad. The only down/bad side effect, over time the shot site bruises easy and after a while you look like you've been beaten up.

Good luck,

My dad is on the heparin injections. My daughter talked to a neurologist at work about the warfarin vs heparin and he said with all of dads issues (diabetes, cancer, chemo) the heparin is the way to go. My mom felt sorry for him as his belly was so sore from the injections. My daughter did teach him to give the shot better as he was taking it too close to his belly button and he was black and blue!! There was also mention of a screen they can put in to stop the clots from moving up, but to be honest, I really don't know a lot about that or what it would all help or what the surgery to get it involves. It was the younger doc that dad had that mentioned it, the older ones have not. Dad is on 100's at the moment, 2x a day. My father inlaw is on warfarin and has to get his blood checked weekly and sometimes his dosages changed. Either one is a pain in the ass!!
I hope this helps for the clots Frenchie without any other problems!

I think Mrs Frenchie is on to me. She noticed her good candles were missing. I haven't seen her move this fast since she fielded my advances at the beginning of our courtship. Even my super powers were no match for her quick evasive moves !!

I will just have to be patient. She has to fall asleep at some point ........

This Satin worshipping thing is harder than I thought. I'm having trouble fulfilling all the requirements. For one thing, I can't find any virgins to sleep with. This is cowboy country. The Cowgirls are hot and the Cowboys are horney. Not a virgin to be seen anywhere !
My only option is to go hang out in front of the convent at the edge of town and hope to convince a nun or two.

I didn't know I had to provide my own virgins when I signed up. I should have known Satin couldn't be trusted. When do we get to the orgy part ??

I was on blood thinners for years after suffering a pulmonary embolism a few years ago. I have a lot of blood clots caused by a pic line during one of my many operations.

About 3 months ago, I started bleeding internally. To stem the flow, the doctor took me off blood thinners. Now, a specialist has recommended that I start injecting myself daily with blood thinners again. Apparently, the risk of another embolism or a stroke is greater than bleeding out. My oncologist said there is no plan " B " if I start bleeding internally again.

This seems like a " no win " situation to me. Now I'm not sure what I should do.

It is obvious. Shoot up brother. I have been doing that for the past 6 mos. since having a PE. You will get use to it.

My son asked me the other day if you can catch AIDS from a toilet seat. I said " only if you sit down before the other fella gets up. "

I think that we'd find more missing kids if we posted their pictures on the T-shirts of large breasted woman instead of on milk cartons.

Did you know ? Line dancing was started by women waiting to use the bathroom.

When we married, mrs Frenchie treated me like a god. As time went by, the letters got reversed.

Mirrors don't lie. Lucky for me they don't laugh either.
Ever since I did chemo, I've had to keep my hair very short. When it grows out, it seems like each individual hair has its own hairstyle. When I look in the mirror, it reminds me of the Dagwood comic strip.

I keep telling myself that I'm not getting old, I'm becoming a classic.
With age comes new skills. I can now laugh, cough, sneeze and pee all at the same time.

Looking 65 is great....... If you're 75.

I think senility is going to be a smooth transition for me.
At some point in my life, I switched from acid to antacid without missing a beat.

I was driving a little fast last week when this angry looking cop pulled me over. " Didn't you see the speed limit sign ? " he said sternly. " Yes officer, I saw the sign. I just didn't see you "
Apparently, sixty isn't the new thirty, and it gets you a hefty ticket.

From the very beginning, I have had a very cavalier attitude towards this whole cancer thing. I have always been, and will continue to be the poster boy for what NOT to do if you develop cancer.

Despite this, next month will mark my 6 year stage 4 cancerversery. Why I am still around is a mystery to me.

I've been on the verge of being bedridden a number of times. I always seem to catch my second wind without changing my lifestyle or eating habits.

They have been predicting my demise for years. I just keep chugging along, to the beat of my own drum. I believe that it's just the luck of the draw. What you eat or don't eat, what you do or don't do, what medications you take, these make very little difference in the end.

So many others who did all the " right " things have passed and I am still around.

I would like to hear from others who have taken a similar attitude with this whole cancer business. Any regrets ??

I posted this b4 about the shots and bruising. It does work as I know first hand since I had to do the lovenox shots for a month after surgery. The nurses never told me this but my crc nurse did. Inject it slowly then hold it for 10 seconds b4 pulling out and it will prevent bruising, worked like magic for me, never bruised again after I started doing it that way.

My dad eats fairly healthy, but has to being he is also diabetic. He will stray a bit off course once in awhile and we have to almost sit on mom to keep her quiet. He has cancer, who cares if he eats onion rings for breakfast! It is his life and seriously will it hurt him now? I am soon heading out on a road trip with them for about a week. We are heading to northern Alberta to trace his travel route from many years ago when he worked in the oil patch selling bits. I know Grand Prairie is on the list but we are also going into BC to Dawson Creek from what I understand. I am hoping he lets me help with the driving, main reason I am tagging along! It will be fun to see a part of our country that I have never seen before and see where my parents lived and brothers were born. Quality time with the folks!! Couldnt ask for a better trip. I am so blessed to have a family here at home that doesnt care what I do and can manage without me. My dad is a bit of a free spirit like you Frenchie!!! I hope things are going ok with you, I think of you often!!

How you doin Frenchie? I pulled an engorged tick out of my little Chloe's snout a couple of weeks ago. Best I can determine, it had been there about 3 days. First time ever. Disgusting...I thought it was a skin tag or something until I saw little feelers moving!
