I like the idea of you making plans for next summer, Frenchie. Also understand your need to spend some alone time.
Like BS said, we'll be here when you need us. Thanks for the update.

Thinking of you Frenchie as spring is fast approaching. The weather has been so nice this winter, hopefully that has helped make things better for you. I know you said you hate winter. Hoping your second surgery for your stent was successful. June and your birthday is not that far away!
Always in my thoughts.

I've been thinking about you lately too, Frenchie? If you get a chance drop a line and let us know how you're doing.

I learned interesting something today. Remember when we were discussing revenue ideas? We tossed around the idea of mouse flavored cat food for a bit.

Well, as it turns out, you were right. It's not a good idea. It's prohibited by the FDA in the US. Boo.

Cats love to chew on mice, so why not feed them meals with delicious rodent flavoring? Because, according to Shaun Belongie, the national brand manager for cat food company Friskies, the FDA says you can’t. It holds pet food to the same sanitation and safety standards as it does human food, approving ingredients it deems appropriate, and necessary, for an animal’s diet. Rodents aren’t sanctioned to be grown as a food source in the United States, and the Department of Agriculture doesn’t have an official inspection procedure for mice. So while fish are a go, mice are a no.

Whew, this little guy lets go a big sigh of relief.

Thank GOD ferrets aren't used for food or I may have to kill someone! I'm not a big mouse lover, but domestic rats are sooo sweet too. How people feed them to pets is beyond me. Yes I eat meat, but I don't want to see it suffer or its life taken! Snake coils around and pops it's eyes out! Please kill all animals as quick and painless as possible if not in the wild.

Well, I guess if you personally wanted a rat burger for lunch, it would be OK. Just not for Friskies Catfood.

By the way, I've had an alligator appetizer somewhere. Just don't remember where.

We have pack rats in Colorado. They're cuter than some other kinds of rodentia.

Image

A couple of years ago, we had a pack rat move into our outdoor grill. The horror.
Since we had a live squirrel trap (another story for another day), we deployed it one evening loaded with an ear of corn.

Image

We kept the door to the outdoor grill ajar that evening, and heard the trap close. Ha. We had him. Of course, by this time he had a name.
The next day, Mr. nut rerouted him (Pedey Shine) to a downed tree about 1/2 mile from our house. He made the move with several dried ears of corn.
We'r not inhumane after all, just weekend grillers. Fortunately the grill gets really hot.

My wife is a pack rat! I was ordered to bring home boxes next week, as one of her customers,(a home decorator) is unloading a lot of belongings.

You have the cleanest garage I've ever seen Mr. case. You can fit a couple of boxes of stuff in there without any problem. And still have room for your TP stash.

Im from southern Louisiana and though I havent eaten Nutria personally, I know several people who have and they claim they are very good! Their main diet is aquatic plants, they live mostly in water, they are nothing like rats. Around here we do call them "Nutra rats" though. :?

Hunting and fishing is a tradition here and squirrel and dove hunting is the kind I do most. Squirrels are rodents also but they are very good cooked on the stovetop. We make a "sauce" (red or brown) with them and serve over medium grain rice often with beans, peas or corn on the side.
