I lost feeling in my hands on first treatment as I exited cancer center. I would start to get tinkling back a few days later. I had a hard time often after treatment to write checks etc. onc doctor reduced oxi drug and things improved.

Cold was a real problem I wore cotton gloves to take food from fridge to stove. Groc store frozen isle was off limits.
Course so was ice cream. I only drank things at room temperature so I never had the throat issues. Keep writing and asking questions on forum I got helpful hints and a ton of caring thru out my journey. Know others care and support you.

Ritz,

Sorry to hear the oxi has been giving you troubles. I'm kind of dreading my next infusion too. By the way, you might think about trying some chlorella to get your albumin up. FYI, here's some info:

http://www.naturalnews.com/008527.html
http://www.amazon.com/Sun-Chlorella-200-300-Tablets/dp/B00065KDTC

Also, I think PSK (Coriolus) is supposed to help with low platlets. I've been getting mine from this source:

http://shop.lexingtonnaturalhealth.com/Coriolus-Super-Strength-600mg-150-caps-PSK.htm

Am having my blood work done tomorrow in prep for a Thursday infusion, so we'll see what my numbers look like.

Thx DE, also, I just got off the phone and instead of cutting my oxy in half they are not going to give me any next time because of the side effects and going to the er last time. Next tx will be my 4th. Still not sure how it will go, I guess I will also have to see where my numbers are at, especially since last Friday my AST and ALT were both over 200. I will be getting my vitamin d checked this Friday at GP along with usual follow up. Next tx scheduled next Wednesday.

Hey Ronni. I am supposed to have 3 more tx. Next wed and following 2 eo weds after. April 1 is scheduled to be my last. Then it says May 6 ct, but talked to my onc's nurse? (I forget the titles) and she said there must be a scheduling mistake as it shouldn't be a month after and to talk to my other lady/nurse or whoever they are that I see before my next tx to discuss and correct the ct scan date issue.

It all sounds so confusing. It's hard keeping everything straight when you deal with so many drs. I feel for you. Keep us up to date when the nurses figure out what they are doing. Good luck on the tx with no oxi should go better! Lets hope for the best!

Do not get depressed and scared, dear Ritz, the cancer journey is often long and would need all your determination and strength... As far as Oxy is concerned, Russians say "if the bride leaves you for another fellow, it is not clear which one of these men is lucky", well, direct translation does not do good to it... Your body does not want it, because it would not do you good, do not underestimate the smart body we have...

Anyway, I tolerated only 3 sessions with Oxy, on the 4th one, right in the first 10 min, horrible rash, fever, etc. - discontinued immediately... Why they can't do Folfiri - e.g. 2-3 sessions before and 2-3 after surgeries? Usually, if Folfox is not right for you, Folfiri is tolerated well. Do not forget Cimetidine before and after surgery. Even if it is just 5FU, it is still good enough as pre- and -post surgical tx. So, all is still OK, just needs some adjustment, which is always the case with cancer txs...
Hang in - hugs and +++ thought, Vilca
