Xeloda co-pay card?

Postby seasnail » Thu Jan 29, 2015 8:14 pm

Hi again,

So we just found out that the Genetech co-pay card for Xeloda has been cancelled. Apparently it happened in 2014 but they honored it through the year for folks currently using it. Their website still says its live, but when we called, they told us it's a no go. :( So anyway, now that it's 2015, we were trying to get a refill and they said it was $250 out of pocket. Yikes! It used to be $20! And this is for Adapt, so we'll need to do this twice a month for the next few years. No way we can afford it. Anyway, we've been calling around trying to find another, co-pay card, but it seems many have been cancelled or discontinued and are having trouble finding one to enroll in. What are you all using? Any ideas?

Thanks!

What about the generic version that now it is available? Have you asked your doc to Rx it? Generic drugs that are relatively new can still be pricey but....if your insurance company covers all generics at a set price, this should be a very viable option for you. Some insurance companies, however, are weird when it comes to generics......particularly those on the exchange (versus those that are employer sponsored).

That is definitely a possibility. My husband just had a worse reaction to generic vs name brand, for whatever reason. He said he'll go for it again though if it cuts costs and just use extra lotion for his hands/feet etc to stay on top of cracks. We were just hoping to find a card since his hand-foot syndrome has been almost non existent since we went back to Xeloda, but whatever it takes!!
