"a node"

Postby midlifemom » Wed Jan 28, 2015 10:02 pm

So, my results...
Last week I had ct scan before starting folfiri today. Last ct was in hospital I believe, about 3-4 weeks ago and was clear.
Today I was told I had "a node show up" on the scan, we will monitor it.
I'm presuming this node showed up because it is inflamed? Suspicious?
What exactly does this terminology mean? I'm getting the ct report to read myself, but couldn't wait for input.

Technically, I had two nodes show; one by breast, one by where surgeon removed a node inserting hai pump, and a new cyst in the liver. This isn't good is it?

Filed for disability 1 week ago, awaiting decision so I can quit my job. I'm only working 5-6 hours per week, but don't even want to do that. Too depressed.
Stage 3 cc - dx Jan '14 age 53, cea 2.9

Folfox Feb - Aug '14

Aug '15 fudr done, liver clear, add avastin for lungs. Cea 4.3
Feb '16 CEA rising
May '16 2 wk break then drop Iri for 6 weeks.
Jul '16 cancer grew, constricted main bile duct. Stent inserted. On break till jaundice clears. CEA climbing. Doing reduced Folfox. Allergic to Oxali.
Sep'16 chemo failed. Trial or hospice?

So if hai takes care of my liver, the inflamed lymph nodes could be removed?

Oh, forgot one other piece of depressing news, in the three weeks since liver resection, none of it has grown back. Surgeon had said that usually happens within 2 weeks.

The nodes could well be inflamed, especially since they didn't show on such a recent previous CT and you had surgery. The cyst certainly should not be a problem -- the radiologists seem to be able to distinguish between cancer and cysts quite well. Wishing you the best news on all this!

Your disability should come through soon, but it'll be 5 months before payments start. I presume you know that? And then 2 years after payments start for Medicare eligibility. Hope you have medical insurance through husband's job? Anyway, glad you are doing what is best for you! It really helped me to be able to stop working... Btw, you can earn something just over $1000/mo while on SSD if you do feel like working a bit. (Sorry if you know all this, just wanted to share in case.)

I agree that as it's shown up so soon it could he inflammation .

If it is cancer then hopefully the chemo will "kill" it!
