Belle,

I've been quietly thinking of you so very often these days as I've read your emails and Facebook posts, yet have stayed away from this board. Words just fail me right now but you have taught me to try to write so here you go my friend. In the words of CRGuy - sucknitude at what you are faced with now, but oh how cancer has brought beautiful people together and you are one of those people to me. Despite cancer, you have brought wonderful gifts to this world:

-Your gift of writing - brought words to the journey of a cancer patient that shows the good times and the bad

-Your gift of time - I saw you share your time with your children, your family and friends - I will always remember joining you for a fun meal or two and trying new foods

-Your gift of humor - whether in how we feel, how we look, or how we deal with food restrictions (dairy free, etc.) - you have always brought humor to the situation in way that helps not only yourself but others. I love your wonderful laugh.

-Your gift of gardening - you taught so many of us the wisdom of ways to garden to nurture our earth and also our bodies with healthy food as well as to nurture our souls through flowers and the process of gardening

-Your gift of baking - through you I learned of wonderful ways to make bread and every time I get out "Belle's bread recipe pages" I think of you and always will.

So Belle - every fall and winter as we make more bread at home, I will continue to think of you and your family and your gifts to the world and every spring and summer as the garden awakens and is nurtured, I will think of you and the children that you nurtured just as you nurtured a garden. May you have quality time with them now and may they always know that you not only nurtured them but also nurtured a population of people affected by this dreadful disease.

I love you my friend.

I'm sorry I haven't posted. When I made it public I had called in hospice, a flurry of friends reached out to me. I've had several out of town visitors and quite a few locals I need to connect with. As soon as things slow down I'll post a more extensive update. I must say, I have been VERY impressed with hospice thus far.

Love you all.

SBL - beautiful post but I would like to add one more. In the years that I have known Belle and spent time with her....both in person and on the phone she has a few other gifts that need mentioning.

1. The gift of compassion.....no matter what Belle is facing, she is a compassionate person who will reach out to you and help but listening, by sending a card, by just being her.

2. The gift of a smile.....I have never known someone who can be so upbeat and who smiles all the time....even when she is dealing with so much in her own life. Her smile is genuine and it is infectious....one can't help but smile when you're around Belle.

3. The gift of gratitude....no matter what, Belle is always one who not only shows her appreciation for a specific act, but even when you don't think you really 'did' anything special, Belle remembers it and expresses her appreciation. Belle, if you read this, I hope you remember what you said to me in the car, outside the Camlin while Amber went inside to get your sunglasses (I think that's what she got). It has left an impression on me how kind, how thoughtful and how caring you are.

Belle, I hope you find peace in your journey and am glad that hospice has been good so far. While I understand that this must all be tiring, I still hope that you might be able to check in once in a while to let us know how you are doing. As SBL said, your gift of writing, particularly the blog entries is amazing and I look forward to reading each of them.
Hugs and love to you Belle and your family.

I'm very happy to see your post Belle. This is what I was picturing, you being too busy living to get on here. I'm glad hospice is looking to be a good thing. Know you are surrounded by loving energy from here and afar.

I was very happy to see you post an update Belle! I am the one who's son is considering entering the MGD007 trial. Now he is afraid to. Do you know of any others who have participated in it? We are wondering if anyone has tolerated the drug yet.

Glad that you being treated well and hope you are staying comfortable and surrounded by love!

My best wishes to you Belle. Also, sending you love across the miles. Pleased to hear that you are happy with hospice. Hope your guests are not too tiring for you and that you are enjoying them. Just catching up on the posts - your dinner sounded lovely - I'm in the ER with my daughter and now she's been seen, I just realised that I'm hungry...starving! :) Been here 3 hours and will be here for about 2-3 more.

A hug for you, Belle.
