Celine you were wonderful on the Today show today!!! Seeing you, the Doctor and the lab makes it so real compared to reading it.
The one thing I did not know (which I may have missed reading in this post) is that they are using "your" cells for other people. Amazing!!!

If you get the call to come to Hollywood, let me know, I'm close.

Hugs and prayers... oxo

Joan used a little creative license with that one. She said they would use Sleen's cells. What they will actually do is use a virus to transfer the T-Cell Receptor (TCR) from Sleen's cells to other patients' cells. Each patient would get their own cells back, modified to act like Sleen's cells. It is virtually the same thing, and the fact that she has a common mutation means there could be hundreds or even thousands of patients per year that could benefit. NIH is working with Kite Pharma to make this happen, with trials beginning possibly as soon as this year (for a similar TCR). This is call Engineered TCR Adoptive Cell Therapy.

Super exciting news! It may mean cure for all KRAS crc with codon 12 mutation. I thought they would attempt that when I heard about Sleen's amazing Tcells. I was not sure whether they would be able technically to do that. Medicine has made unbelievable progress lately...

Thank you for the additional information DH2Sleen. It was nice to see you too DH :)

I received an e-mail today from them saying they weren't accepting anyone on active therapy. Not sure what that meant, my last chemo? which was 01/24/17 and no plans for more until I get an answer from one of two trials I've applied for. E-mailed them back so hope to hear in the morning. Not sure why my Onc would say I fit this trial, supposedly he read the sheet over that I gave him. ??

Thanks for the positive feedback on the news story everyone!

Some trivia for you: In the clip that showed me and Patrick (dh2sleen) sitting on a couch looking at his phone, we were texting w/ColonTalk's own Dr. Tom (DK37) :)

I checked off the yes box on active therapy instead of no and that's why they wrote back what they did. Sent a note back and nurse will be calling me within the week. :)

I just received a call from NIH. They have scheduled me to be admitted on Feb 27th. My cell day will be March 9th. I was expecting to have more notice than this, but ok I can roll with it. Excited and scared at the same time
