Re: TIL Immunotherapy at NCI

Postby Sleen » Tue Mar 24, 2015 10:55 am

I added an avatar to mark the occasion.
NCI called yesterday and said I'm "in". Lung wedge surgery to remove a tumor for the trial will be April 1.
I will need a brain MRI and renal scan prior to that. Leukapheresis will happen prior to surgery also.
Awaiting the nurse's call, and hoping they'll be able to schedule all of that for the same visit.

My +1 has to pay his own way, unfortunately.
Once you get accepted, NCI will pay your expenses to get there (but only yours).

I did have to pay my own way for the initial in-person screening. Flight + rental car.
BONUS for you--no pregnancy test! That was the big hold-up during my screening. They were holding out for blood-serum results (still don't know why) and it delayed my CT by about 3 hours. Everything else went pretty smoothly.

No lilacs yet where I live. Cant wait to see flowers of any type though.

I just sent in my preliminary paperwork. Should hear within two days if they take rats instead of mice.
