Having more cramping and knife like pain

Postby DarknessEmbraced » Mon Dec 15, 2014 10:01 am

The knife like pain isn't going away and I'm having more cramping! I have an appointment to see my surgeon on Thursday. I know he said it's normal but more to give me piece of mind and to make sure it's nothing more serious. Still having problems with constipation except for that one diarrhea episode.

DE- I can sympathize with your situation. Been going through the same thing and I'm 7 months past my surgery. I called my Onc in a panic as I had pain that I didn't have before. I thought I may be getting a blockage. I spoke with his nurse. I've been playing around with dosages but this is where I am now. Pain has gone away, but still finding the happy medium. Benifiber at breakfast, Senikot one a.m. One p.m. Stool softeners with breakfast and dinner. I am at least at the point where my eyes aren't bulging out from trying to pooh. Hang in there!

I am over 6 months out from surgery and still get an occasional cramp and the knife like pain. Constipation is an issue (but I have always been a slow mover since I hit "old goathood"). Rather than laxatives, I find a very large glass of prune juice early in the morning keeps things moving along nicely.

Would probiotic yogurt help or oatmeal with extra fiber in it? I don't like the texture of prune juice. I've been using the metamucil powder in water twice a day and a stool softener twice a day. Constipation has always been an issue for me well before surgery. My mother had a bowel obstruction and was in the hospital for a while but with complete digestive rest she was able to pass it. My grandmother had bowel problems and I think she had surgery for an obstruction. This cramping pain keeps getting worse! :(

I also eat yogurt. The Senna based laxative is a completely natural ingredient. It is a plant based dirivative. I find it to be a little more gentle on the system than milk of magnesia -which worked, but sent things going the opposite way if I took too much. Hope you'll get better.
