Well, one was not a miss, it was a hit. I had to get up during the night and sort of tripped on my worst foot, which now has foot drop. I stumbled and literally missed going through my sliding glass door in my room by about an inch. Had I not had the door frame to grab, i think I would have been a sparkly glass and blood covered Christmas ornament buried in 2 feet of Vermont snow. I had so much adrenalin from that very close call that I was awake and drowning in adrenalin for hours.
Next, this morning we were going out to brunch. It's our 20th anniversary. My husband "forgot" to put salt on our front ramp. I fell, and I fell really hard on my head. Pretty sure I looked like a cartoon Bev as my feet flew up in front of me and I just came down, head first. Was thinking about going to the ER to make sure I hadn't fractured my skull (it felt like a hard enough fall to do that) or developed a subdural hematoma, but other than my back and already broken ankle hurting, I have a bad headache but no weird level of consciousness or anything like that. Plus, I have a neurologist appointment in the morning and she can probably check it out a bit for me.
Anyhow, everyone, especially those of you who can't particularly feel your feet and get off balance; please when it comes to Winter ice, etc, expect the worst and be EXTRA careful. It's amazing how well much of our bodies were made to protect us. When those mechanisms break down, we are at substantial risk.
Be well, all of you!
Love and Happy Holidays.

Happy Anniversary Sorry that your getting new owies - you've had enough over the last year you don't need new ones. You should get some of those cartoon character bandaids so at least you have something to smile about when you look at your owies. kgd
