Taking a break!

Postby Sharona » Wed Dec 10, 2014 7:48 pm

Finished 10 rounds of pallative pelvic radiation and 5 rounds of pallative WBR. The radiation oncologist wants to try SBRT on the largest brain tumor when I return. Meanwhile, I am taking a couple of days to get out of this cancer world with three kids and four grandkids to head to New York for couple of days of good old fashioned fun! Going for quality time while I have it available. One more thing off the bucket list!
Dx CRC mets to lung, brain
Craniotomy 11/12
CyberKnife 12/12

Have fun. I'm trying to decide if I can do an 8 day trip to Oregon and Northern California next year. Hard for us stage 4'ers to plan 7-8 months in advance but that's what travel insurance is for.
Male Age 53. Dx CC with numerous liver mets 6/23/12. Colon res 6/24/12. Started folfox 7/24/12. Added avastin 8/27/12. CT 12/27/12 still showing shrink. Took 17 rounds of FOLFOX. Then 5-FU + Avastin. Switched to Irinotecan for 1 yr. CEA rose to >400. Switched to Vectibix 2/18/15. CEA decreasing. Scans show some growth in liver mets. Lung Mets stable to shrinking.

The trip was perfect! The kids were mesmerized and being with them was wonderful. I walked more than I have in two years! Thanks for all the encouragement to enjoy quality of life. This was planned at the last minute and we did pay extra for insurance on everything, but well worth it. It was the beset medicine ever.
Oh well, back to reality and radiation in the morning...
