Christmas Card Shower - Year 3

Postby Phuong » Tue Dec 09, 2014 9:10 pm

Hello my friends! It's that time of the year again where I mull over how lucky I am to still be around to celebrate and to reflect on those that are going through some difficult times (and that's saying something on this forum). One of our own, Jacekica, will be heading to a convalescent home this week. Jacekica will be sharing a room with 2 other people which will be quite the change for someone who is accustomed to privacy. The generous members of this forum have participated in Christmas Card showers for the last two years and O Stoma Mia and I would like to dedicate year 3 to Jacekica. If you would like to join in this year's fun, please PM me for specifics on where to send the card. This one is international folks, so please allow for some extra time for delivery. EDIT: Postage was $1.74 American currency for Justin Case.

Rules are as follows:
1. First and foremost, we want to respect and protect Jacekica's privacy. I will share her address with you so that you can send the card, but it is NOT TO BE SHARED on Facebook, any forum, or anywhere else where it is in a public area.
2. No return addresses - state and/or country only. We want Jacekica to enjoy getting the cards, but we do not want her to be burdened with feeling the obligation to reply. It can be overwhelming when you think about the (hopefully) many cards she will be receiving and we want to make this easy on her.
3. Cards or letters only, no packages. There is a whole lot of red tape related to packages and presents. Parcels require the person to go to the post office to fill out forms, pay customs fees, etc. Send your love in a card or note only.
3. Make sure that you include your CC name as she may not be familiar with your real names.

We'll track the states/countries represented as we go. Hopefully we will get all 50 states and as many countries as possible. Let's take her around the world!!!

UPDATE:
The Texans on this board are in the lead, followed by Californians. Also represented are:
New Jersey
Colorado
Michigan
Arkansas

Woohoo! We've got one going from Australia.

Please be sure to give me your state/country when you ask for the address so I can add you to the list.

Thanks,
Phuong

Great idea! I love jacekica and her spirit. I will send a card from Nebraska. Does anyone know how much postage is needed for a card from the US?

Fine question Janklo. I was just talking about this with justin case! I got into the USPS site and went through the international carrier and it gave me $1.36. I haven't had the chance to get out to the post office yet (crazy Decade Storm up in the Bay Area), but I'll let you know when I have a definite rate on getting a card there. You can go the justin case route and slap 5 stamps on there too!

I just bought global forever stamps, good for regular-sized letters, and they were $1.15.

Bumping this up. She might get cards after Christmas, but I loved getting these cards! Really helped my family feel the love! Sent mine today :-)
