One poster's CEA and CA19-9 values were higher and rising for weeks after mets were RFA'd then slowly declining for months. Don't know what the trajectory of detailed CRP and ESR inflammation values were, but CRP was still high 5 months later when CEA bottomed. In other transient inflammatory cases, CRP and ESR can help weed out or adjust high marker values pretty well.

A trajectory of CEA, CA19-9, hsCRP and ESR with each kind of treatment would be the most complete information for analysis. ESR is quick and cheap to us, like $2-3 extra.

Olivia, you have been a bright light to many posters in this forum. I am so sorry you are struggling right now, with everything you have had to deal with I can't imagine how a person could not have some bad days. So glad everyone was able to brighten your day a little. Please stay strong and keep on fighting. One day at a time with this damned disease. I pray for you that things are ok. Singing Holly, CEA works best for liver mets and mets that are well differentiated produce more CEA than poorly differentiated tumors.

This article shows that in HEALTHY people, CEA runs around 2.5 in women and 3.4 in men (non smokers). It also says that those with low CEA's tend to live longer and have less aggressive cancer.

Olivia, I feel so bad that you are not feeling well, and about you losing your Mother recently. I wish there was something I could do to make it better for you, but of course that is easier said than done. I hope you realize how much you mean to us here at CC.

My sister visited this past weekend, and got our dog (coincidently named Peanut) a very nice Thanksgiving turkey toy as a gift. I will give him a few revolutions in honor of you this evening. Hoping for the best for you.

Hang in there. I know I don't post often only because I really don't know what to say, but don't give in. I can only imagine how you feel. I just had my lungs resected and now they are following a spot on my liver so back in three months and more medicals bills. I am also a mom and the breadwinner too. So, try to not worry about it is my strategy. Just be grateful for the day. One day at a time, right?
